But if Homeworld attacked and Jack figured out how Gems work by that point, he'd give the invaders a chance to turn back which, if refused, would see him shattering them with no hesitation. Steven would step in to protect the only HG Jack wasn't fast enough to brutally murder, expecting a fight, only for Jack to sheathe his weapons and walk away in respect to Steven's wishes.

In either case, he'd be very interested in the time-space manipulation devices the Crystal Gems know of/have in stock.

Jack and the Gangsters reveals that while there's very little that can outright kill Aku, he can still be driven away if he meets stiff enough (not necessarily lethal) resistance like how the Water Goddess and her Elementals prevented him from stealing the Neptune Jewel:

So in theory, if Homeworld bunkered down and hit him with everything they had (magic, tech, etc.), they might be able to dissuade him from trying to take over; not worth the trouble and all that.

That's not even going into his other supernatural powers (shapeshifting, super strength, pyrokinesis, necromancy, flight, etc.).

It should be noted, that while he is a creature of darkness, light in general is not enough to hurt him (he fires it out of his eyes, remember?) so Gems being made out of his antithesis would not necessarily cause him much concern.

Something that could really hurt him? Steven (and perhaps Stevonnie) and maybe even Garnet since strongly concentrated positive emotions and virtues (Jack's katana is forged from the righteousness of his father's noble soul) can grievously wound him:

Assuming Steven has actual mastery over what we know he knows he can do and Jack's either at his full best or at his best at the beginning of this season: It's a matter of who could beat who it just depends on whether Jack can get out of/break Steven's defense bubble.

Considering Steven NEVER wants to kill anyone no matter the circumstance, Jack and Steven could never really mesh well at all.

Jack pretty much just got used to the idea of killing, but he understands that at times it is justified, an idea I don't think Steven would EVER entertain.

The most you could say that Steven has even come close to the idea of killing is Garnet explaining to Steven that sometimes Rose did things she didn't even want to do, but so far SU has done nothing to actually put the idea to use.

Why didn't Aku just cast Jack out of the dullest franchise in the history of cartoon franchises? Seriously each episode following the boy samurai and his pals from the future as they fight assorted villains has been indistinguishable from the others. Aside from the gloomy imagery, the series’ only consistency has been its lack of excitement and ineffective use of animation, all to make magic unmagical, to make action seem inert.
Perhaps the die was cast when Tartakovsky vetoed the idea of Rebecca Sugar directing the series revival; he made sure the series would never be mistaken for a work of art that meant anything to anybody, just ridiculously profitable cross-promotion for his Hotel Trannsylvannia movies. The Samurai series might be anti-Christian (or not), but it’s certainly the anti-Steven Universe series in its refusal of wonder, beauty and excitement. No one wants to face that fact. Now, thankfully, they no longer have to.

I don't know, if they switch bodies, would they also gain the other's powerset? Like Steven's body seems to be at least partially defined by his mindset, so his physical form could plausibly warp when possessed by Aku, though Aku would probably have trouble accessing any of Steven's gem powers beyond that, due to their reliance on positive emotions.

Meanwhile, Steven probably couldn't handle being switched with Aku very long since Aku's body is made of solid evil and would probably warp Steven's psyche into being nigh-identical to that of Aku the longer Steven stays there.
