Yes, actually.
Here in the states grade school history glosses over ancient history almost entirely, often the majority of medieval history as well, and basically starts around the late 15th century. If you're lucky they'll do the renaissance before skipping strait to the colonization of the US, at which point they'll usually gloss over the culling of the Native Americans, and an alarming number still teach that Christopher Columbus was the first person to prove that the earth was round.
Once you're in high school/grades 9-12 (idk what the different tiers of grade school are called wherever whoever is reading this is), you may be lucky enough to get a teacher that'll do their best to correct the damage done by your previous instructors, but even then a majority usually just rehearse the stuff they've been telling you from 1-8.

There's a short list of things that I take legitimate issue with here in the states, and the education system is top-3 material.

No, but there's never been a society that's been fully one religion either. But frankly most of western Europe has lost its religion by now, not in an antagonistic to religion, edgy American atheist way, most people just stopped believing in God and stopped going to church. Most Euro countries value secularism, we'd have been fine if religious Muslims hadn't started moving in and ruining everything.
