What is the best season of Adventure Time and why is it 7? It's

I dropped it after Jesse completely Moynihan'd S6 finale. Did it actually improve?

Yes definitely. Season 7 brings back the lighter tone that Season 6 was lacking, and executes the more philosophical stuff surprisingly well. Moynihan's episodes are the highlight of season 7 actually.
