Part of me thinks it's too soon for another Las Leyendas/Legend Quest thread. Part of me is happy new people are watching it and starting threads.

Other than the obvious thing it has going for it (pic related) I do think it's a legitimately good show. It's a good adventure cartoon, I like how it takes inspiration from real world legends, how it does have a creepy atmosphere at times and that there are nice dynamics between the main characters.

My main issue with the show was that the humor was fucking sucked. 90% of the jokes are bottom-tier and the show spends too much time dragging out dull gags.

Another weird thing about the show's writing was how they would constantly shit on wherever they visited.

Ex: Britain gets shitty food and bad teeth jokes.

I guess it's the way it's being done in Mexico? The writers are mainly focused on writing a good story, but they know they're writing for kids so they don't go really go all out on jokes, using only the basic stuff that 100% of the audience will get.
While this leads to some dull jokes, it also leads to the writers not cramming forced references in. I don't even remember last time I watched an animated show before LQ that didn't have a shit ton of references in it.

The movies are all connected to each other, but they're not connected to the series.

In the movies, Leo was a little kid, who went into a haunted mansion. Teodora was a little girl from several decades before Leo's time who got killed by a witch who wanted to use her in some occult sacrifice.

In each movie, Leo deals with a different paranormal spook, and looks a little older in each movie, and oddly so does Teodora (she's DFC in the first two movies, but not in the last two.)

I don't think they mention Leo's age in the movies or the series, but I think Leo is a little older in the series than he is in any of the movies. The series implies he's gone on adventures with Teodora and the others, referencing the movies, but he obviously met them under different circumstances than he did in the movies. In the second episode, he also mentions that he never left his town before, so the movies didn't happen in the series, since most of them involve Leo traveling around Mexico.

The episode in Russia, before that it seemed like the show was going to be something like Jackie Chan Adventures, "go to X places, meet X people, collect X things etc." with Baba Yaga constantly doing something in the background without them knowing, but then they acknowledge her presence and actually use it to move the plot further. After that the show still has "Monster of the ep" structure but more often then not it's caused by another plot twist rather than an already established quest goal.

Why is the spanish dub so neutral? (Im from Spain). When I watched the movies, their spanish sounded with a harsh southamerican accent (Mexican); I didn't understand 1 out of every 8 words.

The prophecy was all a big scam anyway. The fact that the Lion killing the Serpent he was supposed to kill would have doomed the world to the current Quetzalcoatl's rule was pretty aces. And Leo saving the day by basically thinking what would Teodora do (besides call me an idiot)? and acting upon that played into his cleverness and the cantankerous (but loving) relationship he has with his friends.

Personally, I think the best showing of Leo's character is in the Vodnik episode. It's his definitive "this is who this guy is, how he's screwed up, and what he's capable of" chapter.
