As a fan of certain Platinum titles and a large fan of the original Nier, I can say that Transformers is worth a play and that Nier Automata is probably one of the best action games that Platinum has ever made. I love it even more than Bayonetta.

Nier Automata has some flaws but they are not jarring.
If you still own it though, my biggest recommendation if you are playing on ps4 is to changed L1 to light attack and L2 to heavy attack and putting Pod Ability to Square and Lock-On(if you have it) to triangle.
The ability to Shoot, aim, use pod program attacks and attack simultaneously without your fingers playing some sort of game of Twister changes the entire dynamic of the game.
I'm probably biased as fuck because I hated Drakengard 3 and liked Nier (Would give it a solid 8/10) but I loved Vanquish enough that it's like I always give Platinum a chance because I can see the potential totally being there and just some things don't feel correct.
Nier Automata has plenty of things to do, explore, fishing is fucking fixed, cute robots, hot androids, a great battle system, an excellent customizable ability system, lore, amazing music, and an odd story but it would be a lie to say Yoko Taro didn't deliver.
Now lets talk complaints though.
I wish there was a part that told me "hey don't backtrack yet, you won't be able to open those special boxes until a certain part of the game." Backtracking in almost any game is the worst thing ever.
I know it's such a little thing, but I hate that your Ally has infinite health and can't get stunned. Sure you can customize their fight style to passive but shit son, even Kingdom Hearts has Goofy get his ass kicked.
Weapon locations and the map never being 100% perfect. Some would say this is stupid but if you're going to have an open world game, at least let me have the ability to see every single opening and crevice.
