The nightmare fuel page for Eva I'd the most over dramatic shit ever. I'd never seen the show and was flicking through random stuff and clicked the nightmare fuel page just to see. There was so many out of context things and images and it was probably not a good thing to see so late at night I could barely sleep and the way they described scenes in EoE made it sound horrific. TV Tropes doesn't give a fuck about getting under the hood of why a story works even though it purports to. In fact, I would argue that it's ever-expanding anthology of aphorisms makes it more difficult to understand what precisely a Trope is without reading the Trope Page, when it could be explained in a sentence or two. This doesn't really matter that much. There's a more fundamental flaw. TV Tropes, if we are to understand a story as an engine, is just giving you a catalog of items like alternators, balancing shafts, turbochargers. It's not a good way to learn about how an engine works or even what is necessary for an engine to work.

TV Tropes is truly the autistic emblem for the Dunning-Kruger effect.

My suggestion is to aggressively cull all but 3 examples per category. I think one of the major issues is that fans of a work will try to force it into as many pages as possible, which is both self-serving and fills the page with garbage.

Also, it hides the painfully apparent media consumption habits of its userbase. Half of every fucking page is Anime references. Books/Literature pales in comparison, and when it's included, it's primarily young adult fiction.
