The one that comes to mind the most is during the episode with the monks and the mountain where Jack get's the snot beat out of him by a yeti. That was a total thrashing. This is what I'm thinking, too. There are just too many similarities between this and the horse from Birth of Evil.

A mystical white animal guiding the samurai to the sword to defeat Aku is what happened to Jack's dad to get the sword in the first place. It might even turn out exactly like his dad, if the wolf leads Jack to those three gods and they turn his human spirit into a new divine sword.

Of course there is also a lot of differences. While the wolf is plenty mysterious it does not appear to be divine.
