I've seen things like Dexter on tv that started out really really strong and then went to shit after a few seasons (and you can't really see that coming); but I'm honestly at a complete loss as to how anyone didn't see Heroes, Lost, BSG, or TWD were going nowhere fast from the very first eps.

I watched the first season of TWD; found it mildly amusing; and couldn't be bothered to watch the second season, personally.

Likewise I read the first trade just to see how much they'd changed from the series and just didn't see what the attraction was.
