Will this have any affect in changing American audiences' perception of animated cartoons? Will we finally start getting animated cartoons "for adults" that aren't comedy oriented?
Genndy is the only credible dude in Western animation left so it depends on what he does next.
No better shows and films than jack have been trying for decades and it literally never works. Your adult show has to find a lucky niche (aeon flux for example) or be a comedy that manages to still capture people without being a family guy/Simpsons copy cat (ala Bobs Burgers)
Animation being elevated in status will come with a significant change in the zeitgeist and I don't see that happening anytime soon so long as outrage culture and newfag internet usage+digestion stays it's course.
Left: Good show
Right: Dogshit reboot

No hope for Bryke?

I think we should wait and see how the rest of the season plays out in terms of quality and ratings before we jump to any conclusions.
@91000962
Not a reboot. No (You) for you.

Have they done anything at all since Korra?
>>91000968
After Korra, why would anyone have hope?
Nope, but it might change the networks' opinions that they can make action cartoons again and have protagonists that aren't just fat emasculated whiny faggots.

This, I just hope this proves to networks that Action Cartoons could work without the need of pushing a toyline and rely on story telling.

Do you actually consider it a different series?
