It baffles the ever loving fuck out of me that /tv/ and /co/ both hate Age of Ultron so much when it was better than the Original Avengers by Far. It's plot actually had some decent conflict, dug into hard sci-fi concepts, had great dialogue, character development, and action and still told a good story without dragging on. It takes hours and hours of practice and repeat shoots to get good fighting scenes, and that's with people that have experience like Jackie Chan. I think he was only able to do it with movies he made in China though because they would fund that much time compared to American studios. As I recall for Civil War that one 8 second long shot of Bucky and Steve just beating on Tony took them a day of practice to get right, which is kind of more ridiculous since Tony and the shield are both cg for the most part.
Dunno what the budget is for Netflix shows, but if they aren't willing to give the cast time to learn fights they really shouldn't bother with characters that are supposed to be heavy into martial arts or something. Would be like a street racing movie having people that can't drive, just cuts of cars moving every 2 seconds, I think Bollywood did that kind of stuff.

Honestly I think people think "Kung Fu" and immediately think Matrix and people flying to a stop in mid-air. I liked the show tried to incorporate a tad little bit more realism to the fights. I mean, Colleen actually went for the weak spots of the body when she fought.

Danny actually uses real kung fu in several degrees of hardness from just redirecting an opponent's energy with Tai Chi-like movements, to throwing down some real hard shots. I did think they powered Danny down quite a bit, but they did the same with DD who was getting the shit kicked out of him in season 1 by guys he'd never have a problem with.

Yes, all of them had the similar flaws, but Danny is the weakest of the protagonists, had the weakest overall writing and story and meandered far more than any other of them.
I disagree entirely. Jones had much better characterization and acting. A better villain, and a much much better lead. And Cage's first half was great, slick as hell and had extremely likable characters. It's only real problem is it falls off after Diamondback arrives and he turns out to be fucking ridiculous and some of that was still great,Even if it didnt live up to the first half of it's hype Diamondback was still pretty rad, though in an entirely different way. the scenes with Shades, Misty Knight, And Black Mariah coming into her own were especially great.

I liked both of those shows, but there's nothing in them that makes me think they were greater than Iron Fist. JJ had shit action with cop outs like that horrible super jump and an unlikeable protagonist. Killgrave definitely made that show.

Cage started slow, but had good style and an interesting villain, which it then promptly flushed down the toilet. After that it got silly fast with the cartoony as fuck villain.

Iron Fist had the same flaws and successes. You have to take into account that they wrote Danny not really thinking about him, but in what his role in Defenders is. They chose to make him the fish out of the water, very naive, innocent character because that will work well with the other defenders and their world view.

Pretty much. Expecting a cinematic infrastructure to provide one with next to zero experience in it is a bit blue-eyed. I did not expect the kind of fights you see from Asian productions, or from during the kung fu craze.

They were going for a semi-serious drama instead, and given that is pretty much what I expected going in, they definitely delivered, especially in the villain department. Unlike in DD S2, the hand actually felt threatening in Iron Fist, instead of "LOL ninjas".

Now, I do agree the fights could be better, but they don't make or break it for me, because I didn't go in watching it for the fights. I mean, why would I even do that? I don't see the names Chan, Lee or Van Damme (among others ofc) anywhere on it. I did like some of the ideas they had for them, and think, with practise, that creativity in execution will make for better series in the future. DDS2, especially, felt too "samey" in the action. Them trying to mix it up is promising, and with practise, should hopefully get us something decent in the action department for Defenders.

I feel like, besides Ward, the only interesting thing they did in the whole fucking show was the one bit where Claire and Davos talked about bottling their emotions, rage and so on.

I realize that "Bottling Feelings" is probably the central theme of this fucking series but after long deep thoughts i finally reached the conclusion that Finn Jones fucking sucks

Take Iko Uwais final raid in The Raid 2. As the action escalates the more desperate Iko becomes, the more tired, the more angry. Not only that every mini encounter has it own story beats with its own satisfying conclusions By the time Uco is dead you can see in Iko's face as he walk amongst the bodies he left you can see he went through a war.

Honestly, nobody in this fucking series, except for maybe Ward, got close to the level of acting ability shown by the untrained indonesian actor
