The leadup was her killing a Hand kid which made Matt revolt at her behavior, and did it to save his stupid ass. It was blood lusty but what could they do with the kid? Send him to jail? Spank him? Maybe send him to bed without cookies.

Once she did what had to be done, she took off so they wouldn't keep fighting and was leaving to get out of the fight and he tried to assassinate her. This made sense in Daredevil on thematic level, what with there being tension between Matt being a lawyer and a vigilante and walking the tightrope between them. In Iron Fist it really doesn't make much sense. Danny's spent years in training in mystical martial arts, being all zen and such. His personal struggle should be something more akin to him reconciling his inner peace and simplified code of life with the chaos and murkiness of the life he suddenly finds himself in. Iron Fist really needed to strike out and be something different instead of trying to force everything that worked in other series into it, like too much focus on corrupt businessmen. The whole thing just felt like it was glued together in a rush.

Arguably DD is more agile and can take advantage of darkness and etc to try to get lucky blows on Iron Fist to wear him down.
