Gwen and Peter had a good dynamic.
Felicia and Peter have a good dynamic...At least they did before Slott assassinated her character and undid decades of character development faster than you could say "The die has been cast"
And Peter and MJ had the best dynamic. Peter and Mary Jane are the Superman and Lois Lane of the Marvel universe.

When they're not together, it just feels wrong. Something is always missing from that hero's life and it leaves the reader with this empty feeling, like they're not quite reading a Spider-Man or Superman comic.

Not even Wonder Woman could counter that feeling of emptiness with Superman, and she actually matters. You think some nobody made up on the spot like Carlie Cooper is going to do that for Spider-Man?
Fuck no.

No, it's a High School AU where MJ has romantic troubles, first with Harry Osborn, then with Spider Man, then Peter Parker. Spidey is a supporting character, as is Peter, though the narrative doesn't act like it knows they're the same person (because it's from MJ's perspective). So it's a teen romantic drama with manga style art. Really sweet, really excellent art.
