Satan is far more powerful of a being than God ever could be, and certainly more powerful than Bibleman. Of course none of them exist in the bodily sense, but they do exist because we give them power. Satan is a representation of the quest for knowledge, freedom from tyranny, freedom of sexuality, harmony with nature, and ironically, freedom of religion. These are values that are becoming increasingly powerful as time goes on. The rhetoric has been there since the Enlightenment, but it's only now that we're seeing the seeds of that work begin to bloom. Satan is awakening in that sense.

God (and by proxy, Bibleman, an agent of God) is struggling to maintain power. Conversely to Satan, God is a value representation of hierarchical order, the power of law, unquestioning obedience, fear of the unknown, and comfort in ignorance. These values are becoming less popular among the general population, despite having dominance for several centuries. Nietzsche was wrong. God isn't dead. But he is dying, and we are killing him and feeding his corpse to Satan. You can argue whether this is good or bad based on the values listed above, but it's true regardless.

The sudden extreme rise of visible fundamentalist conservatism in the West is not a good sign for them, because it signifies the death throes of God. Fear is turning into desperation, enough such that the average Christian voted for Donald Trump of all people. It's fascinating stuff.

i was so devout half the church thought i'd join the local diocese once i finished bible college. personal faith got destroyed by a few incidents and now i find the whole religion thing hilarious.
