To be fair, Silk has clearly been meandering for a while. It's like Thompson didn't expect to get past the Black Cat arc and had no idea where to go from there.

The fact that she's in the same place now that she logically would have been after the Black Cat arc (joining SHIELD) should be pretty telling.
