>character doesn't rely on raw strength
>still muscular
Anyone else tired of this?
>>
>>90733102
Nah, doesn't bother me.
>>
>>90733102
He is pretty muscular for someone called Slim
>>
Green his nickname of "Slim", a little bit.
>>
>>90733102
Not really, you'd have to be in shape to run through all the secret lairs that they go through.
>>
>>90733189
Tall people take longer to fill out their frame. As a teenager he fits the "Slim" nickname much better

>>90733102
>have to rescue civilians
>one passes out and have to carry her
>can't because he's a fattie

Any serious hero should be in good shape.
>>
>>90733102
They train themselves so they can still use their bodies for combat in case something happens where they are incapable of using their powers.
>>
>>90733211
Yeah but there's in shape and then there's "all heroes have the body of an Olympic weightlifter for no adequately explained reason".
>>
>>90733102
Isn't Cyclops an accomplished martial artist too?
>>
>>90733102
He spends a lot of time training in the Danger Room. Battles usually involve lots of running and jumping and dodging giant robots or energy beams or feral midgets with long claws.
>>
>>90733285
>no adequately explained reason
Is constant training and exercise not good enough reasons?
>>
>>90733102
He's pretty thin by superhero standards.
>>
>>90733315
They should have more of a soldiers physique, not a bodybuilders.
>>
>>90733318
Yeah he should be tall and toned but not as muscular as someone like Colossus for example.
>>
>>90733337
Well, that's more of a case of the artists (and the readers) not knowing the difference.
>>

magneto-mvc3.jpg

Here's a worse example. Isn't Magneto like 60 years old? Why does he lift if he barely even needs to walk?
>>
>>90733285
The OP seems like generally muscular though not specifically for lifting.

And the explained reason is that they literally spend hours training. It's not much different from a professional athlete and doesn't seem extreme at all. I don't think you know what athletic people look like.
>>
He doesn't just sit in one place all day shooting blasts out of his eyes. The training room makes use of every muscle they have if you don't want to die training.
>>
>>90733362
He's been deaged multiple times. Why do people always ask this?
>>
>>90733386
Because people are casuals
>>
>>90733362
He's been deaged so he can keep his WW2 backstory.
>>
>>90733362
He uses the metal in his own body to constantly massage his muscles.
>>
>>90733102
>>90733189
what? Ya'll Mr. Sinisters must be cray cray. you think my nigga Cyclops is pulling all the psychic snatch he can handle because he's deep and complex or his special DNA

He works out.
>>
>>90733362
Hes not physically and there are still yoked old guys anyways
>>
>>90733337
You're retarded if you think Cyclops looks anywhere near as big as a bodybuilder.
>>
>>90733102
>Anyone else tired of this?
Tired of this pointless question, yeah.
>>
>>90733386
Cause people can read comics without knowing every obscure little fact and its fucking dumb.
>>
>>90733415
What's so special about his DNA anyway? Was it ever explained
>>
90% of men look like muscular gods and 90% of women look like busty pornstars/supermodels.

It's just the nature of superheroes and you autists need to get used to it already. They're supposed to be the "ideal people".
>>
>>90733275
They had an entire arc based around this
>>
>>90733301
So crossfit?
>>
>>90733102
We'll most superheroes are Olympic level athletes so I'm not sure what you expected
>>
>>90733102
Some artists draw Cyclops tall and with smaller shoulders than other Male heroes.

Cyclops would still have to be fit like a sprinter or gymnast to be able to use fire and maneuver tactics to find openings for his optic blasts
>>
>>90733102
Cyke is a fucking superhero with ridiculous dedication who has been doing the job since he was a kid. Of course he'd be jacked.
>>
>>90733337
Cyclops looks like an NBA player or a Running Back/Wide Receiver in physique. Far from a body builder
>>

Xavier.jpg
122KB, 500x523px
>>90733362
what about Xavier he was in Korean War with Juggernaut
>>
>>90733102
He makes a point about working out in-universe though. And also teaches his students to learn to rely on something other than their powers.

Considering how the X-Men powers being lost or restricted is a common plot in their stories, it makes sense.

>>90733189
Young Cyclops is slim, adult Cyclops was just called that by Wolverine for old times' sake.
>>
>>90733729
Retconned to Vietnam in the early 2000's, which could've passed at the time. As for Korea, could be changed to an outpost while they were stationed there.
>>
>>90733498
I never got this either. Who cares about Cyclops, he's at the bottom of the totem pole.
>>
>>90733102
>character is just a scientist and nothing else
>looks swole in a lab coat

breaks immersion for me
>>
>>90733362
There's an interview with McKellen where he mildly but with all the subtlety of a rocket-powered bulldozer ridicules the idea of him even trying to get jacked.
>>
>>90733102
No, I'm tired of your greentexting shit
>>
>>90733102
Depends on the character, Cyclops is pretty fucking operator and you know what those guys look like with their shirts off despite using a pansy gun instead of a 25-pound sledgehammer to get shit done.
>>
It's called fitness OP, you flabby fat faggot.
>>
>>90733102
>character doesn't have bowel problems
>still wears diapers

>>90733362
He's more like 80, but as we've discussed many, many times, he's been magically de-aged many, many times, which is no dumber than being able to control magnetism in the first place.

>>90733729
Same deal. De-aged, reborn, aliens fucked around with his flesh, who even cares.

Psychic powers are impossible, once you've accepted them the concept of a character born in the 1930s or even earlier having survived to the modern age with relative youth isn't that retarded.
>>

Because when it comes down to it, he's still one of the most powerful mutants on the team. Wolverine isn't exaggerating when he compares his powers to a nuke. In fact, Scott is still holding back in this image.
>>
>>90733102
eye lasers arent a good excuse to skip physical ed
>>
>>90733102
>rely completely on one (1) power
>run out of breath after five minutes in the savage land
>can't carry any gear
>absolutely fucked if you are forced into hand to hand or need to move an object without blasting the area to hell

You disgust me
>>
>>90733447

Not the guy you're responding to, but I think his point is that it comes up SO often in these discussions that it's weird that it's regarded as obscure at this point.
>>
I hate OP
>>
>>90734489

Exactly this. Imagine everyone else running down the hall of some self-destructing villain lair towards the exit. Scott, who relies solely on his ability to blow things up by looking at them, gets a cramp and has to stop to catch his breath. He orders Colossus to pick him up and carry him the rest of the way to the exit.

It would be humiliating and impractical. Of course he's going to hit the gym regularly for all of the things one needs to do on an adventure which aren't "standing there and looking at things explosively."
>>
>>90733102
Dude, he's a hero, if anything he needs to workout because his powers don't help his physicality.
>>
>>90734157
Patrick Stewart is pretty fucking jacked for a man his age, what's McKellen's excuse?

>>90734146
Actual science involves waiting around for hours on test results, might as well hit the gym in your downtime.
>>
>>90733337
He looks nothing like a body builder. He looks like a movie star who works out all the time to keep his physique, like tom cruise in top gun.
>>
Strenght, condition, good diet and roids.
>>
>>90733498
His Pa shagged an UFO.
>>
>>90734841
In his community gyms are hardly for exercising.
>>
>>90733102
Stop making this fucking thread you idiot. He's got to do a lot of shit in battle aside from just blasting shit with his eyes and there's nothing wrong with wanting to look good.

>>90733783
>adult Cyclops was just called that by Wolverine for old times' sake.

This. What the fuck do you all expect him to call him? Should he just start calling him Bara Muscle Dad or some shit? Fuck.
>>
>>90733315
are they constantly under a Olympic regimen?
>>
>>90735047
Yes. What else are they going to do all day?
>>
>>90734354
>Wolverine calling anyone a nutbag.
>>
>>90735081
teach class?
>>
>>90735019
>>90733783

Actually "slim" never accurately applied to cyclops. It was just a nickname used when stan lee forgot his name.
>>
>>90733102
The way you put it? No. But yes I do find almost every character having one of 2-3 bodies regardless of what they do boring.
>>
>>90733498
Unlimited energy reservoir. Despite co's insistence of the punch dimension, cyclops powers are based on the ambient energy near him which is mostly solar.

What about the Flash?
>can already run fast because Speedforce
>never gets tired running because Speedforce
>can just vibrate his fist to punch harder (using the Speedforce)
Where the hell did he get a six pack? Why doesn't he look like an average slim human being?
>>
>>90735757
Speed force. If the man can make physical objects, his costume, out of it, he can make himself look like someone who goes to the gym moderately 4 days a week.
>>
>>90735757
the speed force is very user-friendly
>>
>>90733102
Super heroes are super
The ideal body is muscular
not lanky or fat to appeal to your self insert fantasies
>>
>>90734841
Stewart was an athlete originally and he never got out of the habit of keeping fit.

That's why my favorite cape comic artist is Phil Jimenez. He draws ol' Slim like he should be. Then again, Phil Jimenez is on point with all X-Men.

>>
>>90736116

I forget what he did for all of those comments. He obviously shot something out of the sky with his eyes, but was it something actually massive and worth losing their shit over?
>>
>>90733447
it's literally the plot of the best selling comic book of all time, it should be common knowledge.

>>90733729
Chuck's 1) was only like 10-15 years older than Hank so not supposed to be this decrepit old man and 2) Chuck's has been in a younger clone body since Uncanny X-Men 275 in 1990. he would be crippled again a year later.
>>
>>90735952
He's been a stage actor his whole life.

You can be fat and a stage actor, but you can't be unfit. Even the fatties could run a 6-minute mile.
>>
>>90734157
McKellen kept the sculpted pseudo muscle bodyarmor from the x-men movies, the little minx.
>>
>>90736249
He took out a sentinel with a single blast.
>>
>>90736249
This is what he carved in half. A Brood/Krakoa bioweapon.
>>
>>90736481
That was during Joss Whedon's Astonishing X-Men run. Warren Ellis had him blast the Brood/Krakoa bioweapon in half.
>>
>>90736517
>>90736499
Oh, my bad. I got my BEHOLD OPTIC BLAAAST! moments all confused.
>>
>>90734146
In real life, most scientists are athletes as well , and most athletes are scientists as well.

Strong people are most usually also the smartest. The strength-intelligence divide only exists in cartoons.
>>
>>90736566
It's okay. Cyclops has a tendency to go full on when confronted with reminders of past trauma. Since that is daily for him, these kinds of moments happen often, but are not unwelcome.
>>
>>90736635
I can only assume from this comment you've never actually seen a scientist or athlete before, or somehow don't know what either of the words means.

>>90736828
The only reason you don't believe him is because you're not genuinely smart but get stereotyped as a nerd because of being into comics or you're 'smart but lazy'. Most genuinely smart people see and realise the benefits of getting fit while all the depressive 'smart but lazy' ex-gifted and talented student dickfarts shitpost on r9k and get fat as fuck.
