I don't know how you can do that and not be delusional one way or another.

That being said, I'm incredibly mad at how badly they've raped her character. I can understand making her more friendly as a main character, but the shift from "soulless automaton who only cares about what's best for her leader" to "WHACKY MEME GREMLIN" was both insanely dramatic and just incredibly off putting. She went from extremely distrusting and serious, to serious but slightly trusting of Steven, to awkward easily excited weirdo, to being the single friendliest and silliest character on the show. She's as bad as Navy was in the new episode, except with Navy it was done intentionally and it was meant to come off as extremely weird and offputting.

Why do people use the word "meme" to describe Peridot? Does she say memes? I dropped the show after the cluster shit.

She used to be a lot better; being so angular and having such big hair made a lot more sense with the artificial limbs she had, she pretty much looked like a robot. Looking back, it's astounding how much better she looked in general with those limbs; without them, her head looks fucking colossal. He used to be a lot better too; aside from not doing the "LOOK AT ME!!! LOOK AT HOW GAY I AM!!!" walk, he's progressively gotten smaller and stockier, to the point where he has the anatomy of a very very fat toddler. Granted that he's always been fat and his design has never been GREAT, and that he's the weakest character on the show besides Garnet, but before he at least looked slightly more like a teenage human and less like a fat little monkey.

Yeah, Peridot completely caught me of guard. After a whole season of characters whose entire motivation could be summed up as

we get a character who just makes sense. Peridot's plight is infinitely more interesting than anything else the show has to offer because we're the aliens to her. Earth is her LV-426.

Ultimately that's why Lapis destroyed her, she's just another gem. There is nothing interesting going on, they could've met on homeworld, on a spaceship, being on earth is no longer relevant to Peridot's character.

We knew very, very little about Peridot before she got locked in that bathroom. She liked technology, hated people touching her stuff, and had helicopter fingers.

The reason the fans liked her so much is because the vague characterization allowed them to project onto her. Same with Lapis.

That said, they really did shit the bed on this one. I can't even pinpoint the moment when the magic died for me. Probably right around the week of Sardonyx.

they're not just off-model, they don't have models at all. It's supposed to make the art more "dynamic" and allow each artist to put in their own style, or something like that. It hypothetically could have worked, but it tends to make the characters look really off-putting and introduces many inconsistencies in height, hair style, proportions, etc.
