Uggghhh just dump the fat retard and take his hot sister as your best friend, for God's sake.
Can we get an annoying side character vs qt 3.14 girl partner thread?
>>90710349
The producer must be some fat whiny slob himself to genuinely think people want to see fat characters as "best friends" material.
The show is Randy Cunningham 9th grade Ninja.
That's his sister.
Redheads > gingers
Dumb one/hero leader/serious-intelligent one
Who thought up this formula anyway?
>>90710349
It's because if the sidekick was replaced with a girl then they'd have no choice but to make a romance plot for them as a main focus or ongoing gag.
The only cartoon with 2 protagonists to not do that is Philmore probably.
>>90710572
That's spelt Fillmore!
Probably because it wasn't a comedy cartoon and the writers had to take everything seriously despite the source material.
Fillmore was played more straight than Kids Next Door.
Crap I already ran out of shows in my head. I almost posted Billy & Mandy, but that's just smart cynical character with retard. I need them both to be on equal grounds. Most shows keep pushing this polar opposite personality garbage despite the fact they don't even work in the fictional realm, let alone real life.
>the fatass/dumbass of the trio is a bully
any examples of this in /co/?
By the way brother and sister shows don't count, and that includes Ben 10, The Last Airbender, Mighty MagiSwords and other stuff.
They simply counter one another. Always stepping on each other's toes, always having that natural family rivalrly going on, always ready to tear each other apart.
and bump

Thought of Loud House right away. I don't hate Clyde anymore, but his personality was so slight beyond the weird Lori lust, and the writers started toning that down a bit so he's just a useful second foreground object for scene composition at this point. Ronnie has way more chemistry with Lincoln and really should get more focus, except after April Fools Rules she got snatched away in a windowless white van and will never be seen again for the rest of the series.
I think a lot of writers are kind of scared of a boy-girl dynamic. It's more difficult to write, because people will inevitably assume that there's going to be some romantic feelings between them at some point. Adding in another dude as a third leg of the table helps make things feel less intimate. Most shows that end up going with the one boy/one girl teamup end up getting well received, at least for the character dynamic. Like, some of the examples people posted: Star and Marco, Ingrid and Fillmore, Manny and Frieda; I don't hear people say bad things about those relationships a lot. I think this is something cartoons should try experimenting with more, ditching the third wheel.
Does this make sense?

I think if they wanted to waste time on guy-on-guy screentime then they should have given Lincoln a brother of his same age. That would be interesting to have 2 equals as main.
Otherwise I think that cartoon would be infinitely better without Lincoln. There should be no such as a "main" when you have 8 other characters to develop and try to give them an actual personality instead of 2 quirks and a second thought stereotype.
Never liked sheldon his obsession with jenny was just annoying, brad and tucker were ok i guess
Did anyone like Tucker in Danny Phantom?
>>90710431
the only thing i remember about that show was the fat kid being a shitty friend
>>90712263
Agreed. Most shows are already struggling to give secondary characters some screentime while interacting with the main.
2 Is an okay size, 3 is a crowd and nobody likes that. I really don't remember anything good that Ron Weasley ever did in Harry Potter on his own.
But there is 1 thing they never do in media. Trying to make 2 characters with equal importance and screentime. Most tertiary characters just act as support for the main.
Dual character shows would be cool. No more second best place problems to deal with.

I can't believe that the writers were going to have Sheldon get with Jenny if the show continued. I mean... I thought the point of his intro episode was that he and Jenny could just hang out without being transhumanist fuckbuddies. She deserved better than him.
>>90710349
well the fujoshits didn't mind
>>90710349
>The dumb one you'd usually see in a 3-way dumb, smart, middleman dynamic.
>Instead of picking the smart one + the middle man, they pick the Ron Weasley of the group as a duo.
Who the fuck does that? I think Harry Potter would have been infinitely better off with either Hermione or with Ron's cool brothers.

Source please. Google doesn't show anything for the filename.

if she was going to get actual affection from someone it was definitely him
>>90712520
>>90712520
Sooooo much art of these two
I wonder what the creator thinks of his dead show having a popular fujo fanbase
Kids want annoying side characters
>>90710560
Canada's shamlessly guilty over this
>>90712520
The artist for that drawing is a (probably gay) dude, though.
>>90712941
I don't know, as a kid I always hated annoying side characters.
>>90712941
I always wanted even characters which aren't all that annoying to just fuck off and let the leader+the smart girl duke it out as a duo.
>>90712958
so what? the majority of the fanbase is female anyway
Drop the "bro"
Acquire the love interest.
Like a boss.
Jesus christ why the hell are there so many 3-man teams.
>>90713673
You need to have a non-white to make sure the show doesn't look racist and you need to make the non-white not the MC not to isolate the intended demo
>>90712389
But Lincoln having a brother just completely ruins his entire gimmick. He's supposed to feel alone ultimately despite being surrounded by people. Clyde works fine as that brother he can never have.
>>90713673
The bumbly protag, straight man, comic relief is like bread/butter/bread.
