Not really, that's a bit of an exaggeration. Maybe one in ten and that seems relatively accurate for most places in the western world. Here in eastern Canada we have large amounts of Scottish and Irish diaspora that are redheads so it's weird never getting to see them depicted in American media outside of comic books. There's certainly a bias towards 'important' redeheaded female characters, main love interests and such. That's been recognized as a trope for decades now.

I think part of the problem here is that there are a lot more redheads than proper ginger people in comics. Creators are happy to stick red hair on anything regardless of their origins or other features. Artemis is an example. She's not ginger, she's a vaguely white woman with red hair. And she's from Africa, no less. Same with a lot of other people. There's an idea that the redhead phenotype is a lot more diverse than it actually is. This idea is of course entirely fueled by people's love of red hair.

Yeah my teacher was in China and he was often the only white guy at events. If it was a show or something people were always watching him to see his reaction. High class events like the ones you see in spy movies too. There's no way James boobs would be slipping into the crowd like he does outside of Europe or Tourist Traps.

Exactly. That's the point, a white guy in Chine is seen as a tourist or as someone doing business, no one said he can blend, just that people doesnt take pictures of him as if he was a monkey or ask him if he plays for the chicago bulls or confuse him with will smith.
