After repeating that scenario dozens of times over 5 decades, you can't do it anymore. Sure you'll save people if they're right in front of you, but you won't stop and get to know them. Assuming you're not from the future and you meant season 5, Genndy explained in an interview that one of the plot points was Jack dealing with the stress of actually killing a person.
A lot of people will mention episodes like Jack and the Bounty Hunters, but then it gets into technicalities and the like, which at the end of the day don't really matter because as far as Genndy is concerned he didn't kill them, and that he still has a flawless record.

His performance was very good in the sense that it felt different, but in the sense that Jack changed, not Phil. He's a lot more solemn outwardly but also inwardly unhinged.

The delivery on "very well" in the trailer was very Jack from the original series, too, so we know he can go back in the performance. Very excited to see how Jack evolves across this season in all aspects.
