Probably among the top 3 best comic book movies, the other two being Superman the movie and Dark Knight.
>>
I assume by comic book movies you only mean superhero comics
>>
>>90649286
no, its also up there with Watchmen, V for Vendetta, Road to Perdition, Persepolis
>>
I agree that it is a great movie, but not superman. It's prob cause I'm not really a fan of superman but we might start getting some nice movies in the future.
>>

1-Superman the movie.
2-Dark Knight.
3-Logan.
4-Watchmen.
5-V for Vendetta.
6-Sin City.
7-Spider-man 2.
8-Batman.
9-Man of Steel.
10-Batman V Superman

>Probably among the top 3 best comic book movies,

Yeah....no.

I just saw it, and honestly, all the hype was wasted.

It's a good movie, but just so relentlessly negative. There's no joy or hope or even redeeming qualities in this...at all.

The only people who like this are the sorts who think the new Superman is the BEE'S KNEES!

Blech.

Plus all the pandering to libtard memes was a bit tiresome. "We killed mutants off using GMO's! HAHA, WE SO EVIL."

Double blech.

That said, the little girl was adorable and fun, and the scene at the casino where Xavier almost committed his second mass murder was pretty damn intense.

But, you know, that whole 'second mass murder' thing was just a bit much.

Triple blech.

This superhero film is only good because it tried its hardest not to be a superhero film. It's more like a sci-fi neo-noir Western film than anything we've seen from more popular, traditional concept of superheroes shown by Marvel.

Top 3 in recent years perhaps.
Don't get me wrong. It's a *good* movie, but it's certainly not flawless.

Logan is a wreck the entire movie. It's kinda unsatisfying. Like watching a pet suffer.
Entire buildup is ruined in the ending by obligatory Hollywood final big fight.
Why is Wolverine suddenly dying? He has had that adamantium skeleton for a long time. Why now? He has such an incredibly powerful healing factor.
Generally, while I appreciate the absence of lengthy flashbacks, I think much of the explanations were skipped too lightly after all.

Didn't live up to the hype, but still, a good movie. 7/10
>>
>>90654877
>He has such an incredibly powerful healing factor.
Exostrogen on the food supply.
>>
>>90649454
>using the word "blech" thrice
It's overhyped a bit and it doesn't have its full impact without the meta buildup of watching the series develop over the years and this being Jackman's last movie behind it, but it's good. Plus the movie does have hope, the children get to go to Canada and hang out with probably Alpha Flight lady.

Boy, your list falls to shit almost immediately after Logan.
>>
Good film, my biggest complaints are that the movie still relies a bit too heavily on capeshit tropes. As soon as Logan and company meet up with that black family I immediately knew that they would all die. Its almost an exact replica of the bit in Origins where Wolvie is taken in by an elderly couple. And evil Wolverine clone was a bit silly as well, seemed very similar to Deadpool at the end of origins. I get the symbolism but it seems a bit too obvious and heavy-handed for a movie that is otherwise very smart.

I also wish the Reavers where more of a threat and/or the main antagonists. They were basically just thugs with prosthetic limbs, their robot parts didn't seem to make them stronger at all. I really enjoyed Boyd Holbrook but he kinda just drops out of the movie after the first act. Kinda wish he was the main antagonist instead of evil Logan.
>>
>>90655693
Your complaints are the exact same ones as mine. Are you me?
>>
>>90655693
I agree with this pretty much. And I actually really enjoyed the movie.

But I'd add that I got annoyed with the movie's insistance on proving it was r-rated. The random tit shot for really no reason, the constant use of "Fuck" in the first half of the movie just felt tacked on. It made moments like him slamming the car in sadness and anger, screaming fuck over and over which is actually pretty realistic, after burying chuck. The first half hour especially just felt like "I'm saying fuck because I have no 1 or 2 limit now." Which isn't inherently bad but it just felt like it was the type of shit a twelve year old would include in a movie.

And while I realize many people may disagree with that and my next point, to me it all comes down to the fundamental disagreements with the character that either Jackman, Mangold or both had.

Wolverine is a man that WOULD NOT have even needed Laura to be his kid to make sure they got beyond wherever the fuck they were going and were in safe hands. Wolverine does that type of shit constatntly. I'm not saying he would have agreed to become their Professor X but would not have let a bunch of kids wander into the fucking woods. He also knows how to fight, not just brawl, and uses more stealth than screaming ARRRGHHHHH and sprinting right at people. And he also wears a yellow suit. It's not self-serving, it's a uniform. I agree it had no place in THIS particular film. But to double down and have hime SHIT on the idea of it while telling laura to forget being a hero is fucking angering to me.

They don't have trunks in the DCEU. But they don't have clark or bruce YELLING at another character in the movie that "trunks are fucking silly."

They made a good, enjoyable movie because they embraced their vision of Logan. A vision that was NOT wolverine. Like I said I really enjoyed it. The fact that Laura will be the first wolvie to wear yellow (maybe) makes me never want to watch it again though.
>>
>>90649585

>>
>>90654877
all of this is wrong and you should feel bad.

That's what made the movie good, not showing away on how getting old and dying sucks, not focosing on the fantastic elements too much, leaving things to imagination, etc.

>>
>>90657932
Now let's hope FOX, the DCEU and the MCU all die.
Franchises that have yet to produce a single decent movie and do not justify their existence.
>>
>>90658066
I didn't ask why he was being a dick. Learn to read.

It took watching those trucks go after the kids for him to go after them. Wolverine would have escorted them to the actual end point. Wherever that may be.

And he would have started with a stealth attack.

When the excuses for not having the suit are it's silly, it ruins stealth and he's not the type of guy that would wear yellow spandex they've completely missed the point of the character for their own needs. And like I said I enjoyed it. But it wasn't wolverine. More so than any of his other appearances.

Wolverine has a code he isn't a hero. Making him do some "heroic" shit (deciding to help kids you let wander into the fucking woods after only seeing imminent danger isn't heroic) after going against the type of code Wolverine would have in the first place isn't understanding the character. it's simply to make him a more relatable rather than embrace the complexity of a guy that has a weird code based on eastern spirituality & swordsmanship as well as western attitude and aggression.

try to give some counter-points other green text and shit that's shorter than hashtags if you're going to insinuate that I'm the one that doesn't pay attention.
>>
>>90649255
And with this getting high scores and considered one of the best superhero movies, the entire genre can die.
Another proof that they will never amount to be anything but cheap, popcorn flicks to watch and forget by the next day.
How many superhero turds in the last 10 years, 30 movies?
How did they manage to not make a single decent one?
When are they going to stop hiring talentless hacks and stop fucking them all up in the editing room?
>>
>>90655693
I do agree that I saw it coming a mile away, but it served it's purpose well.

Logan didn't even want to go to the black family's place because they were chased. What happened at the farm made his point later on more solid: bad things happen to people around him. It was also a nice breather and offered some more normal, human moments.
>>
>>90658641
I was told I didn't pay attention above, so take this as you may, but it also serves to inform us about the corn which was how they culled the mutant gene from continuing to appear in newborns.
>>
>>90658391
I don't need to. The crux of the movie is that he's no longer the man he once was yet you're arguing he should do the things he would have in his prime. That's the point: He's not. In fact the height of his self-doubt and rejection of the Wolverine happens in the exact point he doesn't want to accompany the kids and is left behind.

Claiming he'd start with a stealth attack is also splitting hairs given how many different versions of Wolverine have different approaches to fighting and inconsistent with the movie itself in which it is established the whole point of the serum is to give an adrenaline boost and make people more aggressive.

Same for the uniform. It is a mandate for the comics and they'd manage to come up with good enough explanations for it and it does clash with the way Wolverine is presented in his core and particularly with the state of mind he's at in the movie.
>>
>>90658896
Our entire "argument" here has been me saying they don't understand the character from the comics and changed him for the purpose of their movie.

Then you tell me the character is different in the movies and it works for the movies. And I must not have paid attention. Which isn't really addressing my point.

They set themselves up to have to finish the story without giving us a true wolverine because he hadn't been a proper wolverine in any movie before and yet they still wanted to tell a post-wolverine movie. It's not this particular movie's fault but rather the duo behind the character.

Not that anon, but it is clearly shown in this movie Logan has 'stopped' being Wolverine and become a sad alcoholic. He was even planning on leaving Laura when the reavers came for them in the desert. The only thing he cared about at that point was Charles and keeping Charles safe,

When his daughter wants him to come with her and the kids by the end, he tells her 'you got everything you wanted!' referring to how he himself lost everything he ever wanted. he was still super bitter about Xavier's death at that point.
