Past Jack mocks him for protracting a potentially endless pursuit of Aku when his sword is lost and he believes all known time portals have been destroyed, claiming that there's no honor in persisting. ("There's no way home! There's nothing to fight for!")

PJ then asserts that the only honorable thing to do at this point is to end it all. Jack interrupts PJ before he can actually say 'kill yourself', though the rest of the scene he goes on about how he is tired of fighting and presses Jack on why he would make his long-dead family and people "wait for him any longer."

Does anyone else feel like Aku should be used sparingly in this? I mean I get he's the main villain and all, I'm not talking like "out of respect for Mako" or anything. Scaramouche calling him on the cell phone was the only problem I had with the episode

I think it was done to show that the "cult of Aku" is nothing but batshit crazy fangirls, because even random robot assassins got Aku on their number list while this super devoted cult don't even talk to him, but to a fucking statue. I think the cult will get really disappointed in Aku and denounce him or something, or turn against him.
But yeah, I don't think Aku even knows they exist, and the cellphone scene was to establish that.

My feelings were just like that.

Even tho I did not want them to turn Aku into an edgelord, I still don't think the old "silly villain" will fit this new season well.
I was afraid they'd turn Aku into an Evil Master who is unreachable, but Scaramouch was able to call him easily, so it seems that the show is still being pretty faithful to the original character.

I am really curious about what they're going to do to Aku in this season. They have to change him, but if they change him too much, it won't feel like Samurai Jack. I really think they'll be able to pull it off, because, even tho they changed the show a lot, they were still able to keep the same Samurai Jack feeling after 12 fucking years. I became a fan of the madman Genndy.
