Hey, /co/! Here's another mouth-watering ten-issue marathon of classic
"Betty and Veronica", as drawn by the Archie man himself Dan DeCarlo (who else?)
and written by Frank Doyle, George Gladir and Dick Malmgren (anybody else?).
What sticky situations will our teenage heroines get into THIS time around?
You'll only know the answer if you sit back, grab a snack and BUMP every once in a while!

BAD NEWS
I will not be here on Sunday.
GOOD NEWS
I WILL be here on Monday, and I'm bringing with me more
classic "Betty & Veronica" stories from the exciting year of 1975!
Until then, y'all can relax, enjoy the rest of your weekend, and
remember to BUMP for the next lucky reader. Good night and see you Monday!

I was hoping Betty and Horace would get together. I guess he was too fat for her, he had to find another fatty.
Bump. Thanks OP

I did some intensive googling and found the following story about Archie's Restaurant. Apparently the real thing lasted a couple of years then changed into something else.

>Moose spelled his own name wrong
The left cast are all Archie production people (writers, artists, colorist, letterers, editor, etc.)
>>90623237
>cover price went up 5¢
Who do they think I am, Mr. Lodge?
>>90629604
Here's the Merrillville Archie's Restaurant now.
>>90627312
Geez, Ronnie.
Not yet, please.
>>90648611
Who would you pick? Betty or Veronica?
>>90648701
I'm an old-fashioned sucker, so I'd go for the girl who wouldn't treat me like shit.
>>90649254
Betty is my choice too. They made Veronica more nice later, but this era's stories are the best Archie comics ever made in my opinion. Dan DeCarlo art, Frank Doyle stories. Some other solid artists in that time period too.
>>90649300
Oh, I'm certainly having a blast with these stories. They're an interesting glance at some of the ideologies and fashions of the era.
>>90628113
dat cleavage Betty.
We're just a bit into the era when Archie was a publicly held company and DeCarlo was able to get away with a lot more sexy designs and cleavage as a result. They also had a lot more socially relevant stories as well.
That sexing up pretty much peaked in the early '80s with Cheryl Blossom; Richard Goldwater and Michael Silberkleit gained control of the company around '84 and they toned things back down to return Archie to its child family roots.
Among other things, they'd alter artwork by removing cleavage lines and occasionally adding clothing; Dan was really fond of putting super tiny bikinis on background and foreground girls during this era. They'd also skip reprinting some stories as well; Cheryl pretty much got banished until the '90s for being too lewd.
>>90651350
Early 80's were Glorious! Mid 80's there was a large drop in quality that Archie really didn't recover from until the 2010's.
Thank you OP!
>>90641861
>>90622961
"Which one of you fellows wants to take me for a ride?"
Woah, Veronica! This is a family friendly comic, not a CW show!
>>90623050
Is Reggie Japanese? Is that why he likes baseball so much? I don't think Chinese or Koreans love baseball but the Japanese are crazy about it!
>>90657991
He's American!
Well, he's white, just like the core Archie cast at the time. The only non-white characters that showed up in the 70's comics were Chuck Clayon, his girlfriend Nancy, and his dad Coach Clayton.
>>90658277
Then why are his eyes so slanty in Riverdale? Is he like the "Asian" girl from High School USA? Actually white but has special operations so he could look Asian? That would explain why he's so tall and buff, instead of being small and slight.
>>90659193
You mean in the CW show? They made him Asian in that. Same with Dilton. They made the show "more diverse", black Mr. Weatherbee, Josie and Melody. Hispanic Veronica and her mother.
>>90659320
So when the Archie universe Rebooted with Mark Waid last year Reggie rebooted into an Asian? I thought he rebooted into a Greaser!
Here's a picture of Slanty-eyed Reggie, and Jughead with his eyes open.
Was Ethel always crazy for Jug's D?
>>90659923
I thought he was more Hispanic looking in the Reggie an Me series. Greaser works too. Your pic is just the artist, notice the black guy is doing the same with his eyes.
>>90659923
is that alt-text?
>>90660153
Yes, the Jughead comic has been doing that. Just like Squirrel Girl. It was the same artist too at first.
>>90624213
Yes, I'm certain those two students in the back were "Meditating"
>>90660213
First ~9 issues of Jughead were ok but with the new writer Jughead has become LEGENDARY! Give it a read, it's quite good.
>>90660281
I intend to. A bit behind on my comic purchasing so I haven't read it in awhile, but I intend to get all the Archie comics and digests for my collection. DeCarlo's art is my favorite of course, some of this newer stuff they're doing is a bit subpar but the stories have been good.
It's a nice change, and I'm kinda glad we're not getting Dan Parent stuff for a break as his stuff had deviated too much from Dan DeCarlo's style and just gotten sloppy and lazy. Fernando Ruiz was probably the best Archie artist recently doing the classic style.
>>90666861
>Short haired Veronica
Interesting time piece.
>>90659923
I love Derek Charm's art, I hope he sticks around for a while.
