Rugrats did it too. Chuckie and Angelica wound up handcuffed together via some dumb cop playset and she lost the key so had to keep coming up with dumb excuses why she had to bring him everywhere.

The whole point of the trope is 'enemies being forced to be friends, or see things from their enemy's viewpoint' which gets done in many ways. Heck, the Futurama ep with Fry's head on Amy's body became this, too.

>their fingers caught in a Chinese finger trap for the duration of the episode

I loved how rugrats did it. Dil (I think) got his fingers stuck in one, and spent the entire episode trying to get them out. However, he'd randomly get them out by accident when gesturing or pointing at something, and would then put it back in to try and get it out again.

10 year old me found it hilarious.

Viva Pinata has the absolute best boys vs girls episode. Chaotic has a great one two. The girl player fights as male creatures and the guy turns into hot female creatures and wins so no one knows what the fuck to think.

I live in the South, so parents would just buy that shit for the kids. A family was murdered once because their heroin addiction got them in debt. Just killed them. Even the children.

No Second Prances: Twilight acts like an asshole to Trixie despite forgiving her in her last episode
Applejack's Day Off: AJ forgets how to farm for the sake of the plot
Flutter Brutter: Zeph acts like an asshole for the sake of the plot
Spice Up Your Life: Rarity forgets her defining characteristic, and fucking namesake for the sake of the plot
The Cart Before the Ponies: All the big sisters act like assholes for the sake of the plot
28 Pranks Later: RD acts like an asshole for the sake of the plot
Times are a Changeling: Everyone is justifiably racist towards Torax, Spike betrays him for the sake of the plot
Every Little Thing She Does: Glimmer regresses and brainwashes the mane 6 for the sake of the plot
PPOV: A bunch of horses act like assholes and sink a boat for the sake of the plot

Anon never said they had to be out of character, also he said it's why he doesn't like FiM, not FiM anymore, which is understandable because the show has been using this trope since S1, though back then it was less frequent and usually due to a legitimate misunderstanding.

Bailey has a good life. In the beginning he's really cheerful, and hell, one of Potter's men tells him Bailey Building and Loan is going to be the primary concern in town, hell, Bailey's confident enough to dress Potter down at the start.

It's just that Christmas eve happens to be the worst goddamn day of his entire life, and when everything that you build starts to unravel, that's when you start questioning your choices.

That's part of what bugs me about the remakes and rip-offs. They start from a baseline position of misery. It's a wonderful life is about persevering through a bad patch by being reminded not just of the good you've brought into the world, but the people you love in the world. It's not about "suck it up and deal with your miserable existence for some goddamn reason or other."

I disagree. I would do exactly the same as Twilight did in that ep. Last time she didn't "act like an asshole" towards a redeemed villain, he joined forces with another villain.

I'd argue that her namesake meant more of a "unusually good at something" than "unusually creative at something"... Plus she did have a point: you can be creative all you want, but if she didn't advertise their restaraunt, nobody would still go there.

There are exceptions (height for basketball players for example) but almost universally it is hard work for a long time that leads to greatness.
