I always called shit on "Cats Don't Dance" because the main character is a show-stealing asshole, who doesn't see why the most profitable person who is the star of the world doesn't like him literally trying to outdo her. I mean, it turned into weird animal racism later, but it starts w/ "Yeah, I know this is a 'bit part,' but I wanted to just sort of do soft-shoe & show off a bit for my extra role" & everyone's like "No" & his only defense is "Yeah, but muh dreams!"

Nah, they're just ahead of their time. Movie would've been a hit during the #oscarssowhite fiasco. Beat Disney to the punch over a decade ago with the whole "Anthropomorphic cast overcoming big city racism" also with a little extra punch when it's a crack at the Hollywood itself and thus, taking a shot at themselves.
