We'll never know if Miles actually has any potential because Bendis is the only one who writes him and he refuses to give the kid anything. No personality, no villains, no nothing. He's not even worth hating.

He worked well because he was part of the Ultimate Universe but right now he has nothing... not even a good cast because back then he inherited Ultimate Peter´s supporting cast

He was conceived at a time when it was hoped the Ultimates would continue as a line, so he's just a lazy re-work of an existing property.

Bendis missed a great opportunity not to have Miles justifiably disturbed about being transplanted to 616.

Think about it: practically everything he knows and loves aside from his close friends and family are gone. Why the fuck is he okay with this? Why isn't feeling a bit detached from everything?

If Bendis were clever, he could make Miles' new motivation for being Spider-man protecting his family. Namely his newly resurrected Mo. Now that he has a new chance, he should be doing all he can to become the best Spider-man he can be to protect New York, and by extension, his mom.

There could be a story arc where he stumbles across one of Spock's old forgotten hide-outs, and be tempted to use his technology to keep New york safe so he can spend more time with his mom.

Instead, we're fucking around with crossovers.

Yeah, that would be an easy way to differentiate him from Peter and give him his own identity. Have him struggle with how the superheroes in this universe are different from the ones in his own. How living in the main Marvel universe feels so off, but he can't say it out loud to his friends and family because saying "we used to be from another universe but now we're in this one" won't come across well to his loved ones. So he's left in a quandary, figuring out what his place is in a world so new to him while unable to express it because everyone will just think he's talking crazy.

I'm multi-racial and I've always struggled with my personal conceptualization of identity and culture and I know many others that feel the same way. It would have been nice to have a character I could identify like that, but I guess Bendis can't really do that, it's too smart.
