I mean he'd probably have mixed feelings about the comics but I don't think anyone can deny how incredible it must be to see characters you came up with a lifetime ago become living breathing characters on the silver screen.

Regardless of what you think of the quality of super hero movies, seeing groot/vision/thor in what is essentially real life quality video would be amazing. The fact they are world wide sensations would only be the icing on the cake.

Outside of the copyright situation and the original art situation he probably wouldn't give a shit as long as he was making new art or facilitating the process of making new art.

Before any of you act like he'd be upset about legacy characters or diversity please remember: Kirby was a radical lefty who pushed diversity in his own comics, was interested in New age ideas, and thought the existence if hippies was good for our future, he just has a hardened blue collar exterior. He rarely revisited odds characters and concepts but when he did he tried to push them forward like when he created a new generation of the Newsboy Legion or his original vision of The New Gods as the next cycle of the Norse gods.

None of this is intended as an indictment or a support of modern Marvel. I don't read that shit because I don't support modern corporate comics. I just think it's important that we note what would and would not bother him.

Kirby was for diversity but not agenda pushing. You should read his Black Panther is full of all sorts of jungle mysticism and Sci fi fantasy that you'd expect from Kirby. Apart from wanting the money I don't think Kirby would care about the characters and how they were used. He didn't like revisiting old characters, he did Cap and Black Panther at Marvel because they wanted him to, not because it was his first choice. Remember he wanted to kill off the gods in Thor and do the New Gods story there.

So like a lot of older creators he would be depressed at how the comic industry is so reliant on old characters. But he'd take the money and shut up.

Creators who lack self-promotion skills are always at a disadvantage, today as well.

(And yeah, Lee promoted Kirby's name too, at least until Kirby left, but obviously not as much as he promoted himself. Took him until 1966 to agree to Kirby's request that he drop the separate writer and artist credits and just write "by Stan Lee and Jack Kirby," which at least hinted at Kirby's plot contributions)
