Mike Carey man. Great writer, but a lot of his stuff gets overlooked. I did not exagerate about it, but it makes way more sense in context. The pack of cards (The Basanos) was created by an Angel (and angels are not supposed to actually make anything) to mimic the powers of Destiny of the Endless. Being tethered to the Presence's creation, they were bound by his limits. When Lucifer detonated an Archangel in the Void and shaped his own world, it was one not bound by the word of God. So, the cards raped the woman they were possessing in an effort to gain a body outside the limits of the Presence
