My brother's favorite was Cheetor but he was 4 or 5 when it first starting airing. So that's understandable, he was the kind of person they pandered to with Cheetor.

Mine was always Rinox. For some reason I always like the characters whom's job is to fix all the shit that gets fucked. For Rinox it let him be useful/relevant even when they were handing out upgrades like candy to everyone but him. I kind of like that he didn't get an upgrade though, required him to use his brains when shit hit the fan and I like his design. Transmetal would have probably ruined his look.

I think you're right. It led to one of my favorite episodes; when Maximals and Predicons had that shootout at the Maximal ship which nearly wrecked them for good until Optimus came just in time. But man between him being gone, and the Maximals usually just barely edging out Predicon schemes, it felt like Optimus was ineffective.

Fun fact in France the next portion of "The Agenda" didn't air the same as other countries and they were left with one of the worst cliffhangers I'm history

The whole Tarantulas/Blackarachnia relationship was pretty dark for a kids show. He keeps a psychic link with her just to fuck with her, and when it came time for her to have life saving "surgery" done, he personally led the charge to botch it and kill her. I think the best thing to ever happen to the two shows combined was the character turns of Rhinox and Silverbolt if only that it showed that there was legit consequences and wholeheartedly showed that megatron was not fucking around.

And yeah, even if I'm personally a bit more fond of Wars over Machines, Silverbolt going apeshit is my all-time favorite moment from all of transformers franchise.

Just on account of the fact that you know how goody-two-shoes his character is and you know what Megatron did to him. You can tell he fell from just his voice. While Rhinox accepted what he was and came to terms with it, Silverbolt completely fucking broke and was in legitimate pain from Megatron violating every aspect of what made him silverbolt.

My favorites in general were Megatron, Rampage, Rhinox, Dinobot, and Tarantulus.

I will say though, I loved Primal, because his approach to situations was classic yet unique. He was treated like a powerhouse, but never like he was certain. While Prime's demeanor commanded immediate respect, Primal was never really certain. He felt more flawed, but with the best intentions. I liked when Rattrap and Dinobot would question him, because it showed that while he was an amazing soldier and leader, not all of his plans were perfect. At the end of the day, he just did the best he could for his men.

Rattrap is easily my personal favorite.

It would've been soooo easy and predictable to just make him a weak, weaselly little piece of shit, or to try TOO hard to compensate for his beast mode and make him an edgy mccoolguy to contrast with the dopey kid appeal antics of Cheetor.

Instead, they found a happy medium where Rattrap just never stops shit-talking EVERYONE, but then can back up his smartass by revealing himself to be both ballsy and more importantly, competent.

And all the while, McNeil is just doing the best cartoonish Brooklyn accent, which somehow never gets old.

Let's be real, ALL the Beast Warriors were cool characters, but Rattrap's the one you want to have a beer with. Maybe even be your wingman at one of them Cybertronian titty bars.

The toys in that pic are from Beast Wars Neo line, but Mangaboss and Tripredacus were originally from the English Beast Wars toyline. Like most of the Beast Wars toyline they simply weren't in the show.

With the exception of Lio Convoy, Galvatron, and Moon, all the characters in Beast Wars II were redecos and remold of molds from the previous lines. Beast Wars Neo was mostly completely new molds, but they used some remolds and redecos from Beast Wars as well.

All the GEEWUNNERS I've ran into don't want a million Primes the same as the first, they want a continuation staring the exact same characters as G1. Any other series and their versions of characters get shit on and called "Not a true Prime, Bumblebee, Megatrong, etc". Guess not all GEEWUNNERS are the same then.

Also, there are two reasons they do things like that....A. because fans like it and enjoy that old characters aren't forgotten, it's easter eggs for older fans as these shows are mostly for young kids who never saw the older shows

And B. because it's easier to use names they already have trademarked, even Beast Wars used tons of G1 names for unrelated or only vaguely related characters that would later be tied into the canon

So glad to have snagged this on Aussie eBay. Video and sound (but especially video) quality are superior to all other non-Madman releases I've seen.

Favorite characters are Rhinox and Dinobot. But I also love Primal and Tigatron. However there really isn't a character I don't like from BW.
