I use to draw a shitty auto biography comic years ago.
Some dumb asses really thought it was funny and good art, so I had a few fans.
I used the comic as a way to hide the fact that I'm an unemployed freeloader to my family.
It was working until my cousin challenged my claim that I had a comic.
I just told her to search my name on tumblr I have an old page that links to my blog.
One of those fans was drawing pictures of me jacking off, and decided it was the greatest idea to use my first and last name.
I never thought that it was necessary using a fake persona years ago, and god did it backfire.
I have no idea how my cousin reacted, but my christian aunt checked my cousin's history to find my name and then found the r34.
She promptly called me and told me what she found I have been doing in college, and if I didn't take it down I would have my mother learn about the porn.
So I contacted that fucking artist and never got a response.
I was sweating bullets after a week because my aunt will tell my mom and at any moment google's first result of my name will be me jacking off.
Using my connections through the school's Republican College I was able to get a professor who had a buddy specialize in copyright and IPs.
He wrote up a quick Cease and Desist for me and promised that he would aid me through any other steps and if needed represent me.
The letter got emailed and years of rule 34 from a single artist was gone.
My aunt never mentioned the thing again, but my cousin taunts me every Christmas about it.

I still search my name every few months on all the R34 sites and tumbr just incase that shit ever comes back.

It already happened... a lot. At first, I was uncomfortable with it, even mad, it took me a LONG time to get over it.

Then I realized just how hypocritical I was since I already draw porn of other characters, even OCs, so why should I be mad? I'm doing the same, I'm not any better.

Now even I get commissioned to draw suggestive pictures of my characters, it doesn't bother me anymore. I'm really flattered by all of it, even the negative art because they're still giving me and my characters attention, free publicity and all that.

Yeah, since the character is so simple, the art I get can range from child-like to full woman-like bodies, especially since she's not meant to have any specific age. I still find it cool when artists use their own styles and go nuts.

Come the fuck on. I see this shit all the time, and if you're actually a comic creator, cut that shit out.

1) You should not be afraid of autists from the 4chins hazing you. /co/mblr is pussy shit, and you should be open to criticism regardless of the source. If your hang-up over posting your webcomic is "more people will see my webcomic, and therefore more mean things might be said to me :(" you're a bitch. No one likes a bitch.
2) You should not be afraid as being known as an artist that frequents 4chan. Plenty of artists got their start here, and plenty more still frequent the site. Have you never seen an /oop/ or a Prequel thread? Their writers/artists stop in regularly, with a trip(!) to prove it's them, and face no reprecussions, SJW or otherwise. I grant you that both of those examples are furry degenerate trash, one of which never updates, but they're also highly* (*more Prequel than OOP) successful webcomics that turn a profit for their owners - in case you forgot, this is your end goal, you spineless fucking worms.
3) (Pussy shit) You can disown ever being here. If it ever comes up, say that someone was impersonating you. If even one faggot reads your shitty fucking comic, it's plausible. There is literally no risk to posting your comic here.
