I'd rather blame both EVERY SIMPSONS EVER marathons and just how the nostalgia wheel turns.
Even the vaporwave 'scene' didn't really care for simpsonswave after the few original ones came through.

Even as a kid I knew seasons 1 and 2 were lame, because nothing ever counted or mattered. It would be one thing if a lesson or story had repercussions, but it always went back to "normal" and that felt cheap. Once season 3 came around and the jokes got better, it became a cartoon and watchable
