The tie-in comic sold more than the event itself. There are more people who don't want gaps in their Amazing collection than there were people interested in the plot of the Clone Conspiracy.

I have the feeling people think the top 10 is all that matters. I think the top 50 should be way more important to analisis. That way you can see that Batman is not the only DC comic that sells, or that marvel wont cancel all their books.

I really don't think the problems with Supergirl are in the writing. It's a pretty decent mid-range book overall as far as the story is concerned. I think it's more that the art team is unfortunately just floundering. Brian Ching can do some good work, as seen by the cover to the Rebirth issue and the design sketches prior to the release of the issue. But it's gotten sloppier and sloppier as the issues progressed and it seems like he's someone who's unable to keep up with a monthly schedule. Additionally, the inker and colorists aren't really well matched with him, which is odd since DC usually does a good job on that. It's really the biggest case of any of DC's books at the moment where I think the art is really dragging things down.

The prior month was the Batwoman fill-in and it was in the 20s. So there was a drop off then recovery. The month prior it was in the late teens. It also was an anniversary issue.

So it did get a somewhat boost.

I guess we'll see how it does in March and April to truly judge if the reason is cause of the character or not.
