You're wrong, they want live-action to compete with "other networks". They have all the successful animation they could possibly need with the Fox Blocks.

I'd rather talk about Sonic Adventure.

What they need to do is take 90s CN cartoons and do that like they did with the old Hannah Barbera stuff. Get a bunch of old Powerpuff Girls, Johnny Bravo, and EEnE clips chop em up, add some new animation here and there and go to town. Johnny Bravo talk show, the Eds living like Brak and Zorak, etc. Would be amazing.

The suits and marketing people won't let them. Because it "taints" the HB properties and makes it harder to sell them/retool them to sell if they have to contend with a surreal/parody version.

Case in point, while Space Ghost Coast 2 Coast is a bedrock of Adult Swim/Cartoon Network, the corporate suits at Turner HATED the show with the fire of a thousand suns. Because so long as it existed/was remembered fondly, they can't do a super dark and edgy Space Ghost revival as a comic or movie or TV show on another network.

(This was true in 2004/2005 when DC was told by corporate to put together a grim and gritty Space Ghost reboot mini-series for usage as the basis for a potential Space Ghost TV/cartoon revival. The mini-series tanked and was universally hated, because "NOT MAH SG:C2C".....

Similarly, Venture Brothers used Johnny Quest and Race Bannon in S1-2 but were told to change them afterwords to new characters (Action Johnny, "Red") because someone at Warner got it up his ass he was going to get a Johnny Quest movie made and didn't like how Venture Brothers was mocking it.

(Harvey Birdman meanwhile only lasted as long as they had Stephen Colbert on the payroll and as soon as he left the show, they canceled it. Sealab meanwhile got starved for cash (that was why Marco was marginalized in the final batch of episodes, as they could not afford Erik Estrada except for a bare handful of episodes) and canceled when Reed was told the budget for the new animation (which the show was now relying on for 90-95% of each episode was going to be slashed even further.

I almost wonder if this will happen with Teen Titans. Like if kids today end up liking TTG or remembering it fondly to the point where in the future the franchise won't be able to have any new series taken positively by the masses unless it's close to the TTG they grew up with. Work at Adult Swim and I can tell you, after the Gelman/Heidecker vs MDE debacle, Adult Swim is backing away from live action shit for a while.

Heidecker might have won his fight to get rid of rival Sam Hyde/avenge Gelman being kicked from the network for being unfunny, but he basically pissed off the top brass who were made a fool of due to his and Gelman's smear campaign against Hyde. And you don't slander your boss by proxy of slandering his new pet project as being a Nazi, without blowback....

No, people love it. When they love it they don't really talk about it because there aren't enough folks to hate it. It's not the greatest show on the planet and folks that like it know that so any arguments about the show drop immediately. When new episodes come out discussion is had and then it dies off. We don't need to enshrine the show or create constant generals. We all know shows with generals don't really deserve them.
