Cartoon Network? What's that?

Do you mean the Teen Titans Go channel?
>>
I hope DC will leave CN alone and stop airing TTG most of the week, And show off some Classics

There's literally no way at this point they're going to actually celebrate their anniversary like they did five years ago with the bumpers and programming they have now. Christina Miller has shown for the last 3 years that she does care much about the programming CN has.

What are your earliest memories of it, /co/?
>>
>>90413511
I learnt English from CN after I found it on my dads satellite back in 1992. Now in 30 year old, shitposting on the internet all day long using that knowledge.

how time flies.
>>
>>90413511
Last anniversary they played older shows and more or less had a random scheduled of old and new. What do think they'll do this year?
>>
>>90414076
absolutely nothing but Teen Titans Go! What else is new?

>tfw I wanted to relax and eat breakfast while I watched some toons this morning
>schedule for the next 3 hours was TTG
What did I do to deserve this
>>
>>90413731
Got started with Ed, Edd n Eddy with the episode Avast ye Eds, Started Powerpuff Girls with Collect Her and Supper Villain.
>>
>>90414122
Because CN hates older fans
>>
>>90414104
>>90414076
>they show a marathon of the original teen titans
>every episode has the TTG characters cracking jokes and commenting on everything ala MST3K
>>
>>90414163
>old teen titans MST3K
That's too much wistful thinking who are you kidding?
>>
>>90413731
Whenever my brother and I would go to my tia's house on weekends, we'd always watch Ed Edd n Eddy because the only cartoons we had at home were a VHS tape of Wallace and Gromit and PBS toons. We'd sit in her bedroom and watch CN for what seemed like hours, only getting up to go terrorize the ice cream man (which we also didn't get in our neighborhood). It was pretty fun.
>>
>>90413731
Cow & Chicken as a toddler in Boston.

Ed Edd n Eddy, Dexter's Lab, Johnny Bravo, marathons of Tiny Toons and Freakazoid! as a 5 year old in 2000.

I can still remember watching all those pilots in that Cartoon Cartoon Weekend marathon (Big Pick, was it?).
>>
>>90413760
>tfw met another kid in school who also grew up like that and sperged out in recess talking to eachother only in english until a teacher strongly suggested I cut it, because he was a minority, who's grasp of the local language was slipping

Good times.

>>90413511
That can't be right. I remember CN being advertised as this big new thing in the mid 90s. I want to say the channel launch was around '96 or '97? I suppose I think will have to head to Wikipedia and find out I'm crazy, just like how I was sure it was always Berenstein Bears.
>>
I think Dex's Lab is where I first heard about computers from. Unless Jetson reruns came first.

>>90413760
It's as if that and writing essays in lit class unwittingly prepared us for such a fate.
>>
>>90415979
It started off as a showcase of the vast animation archives Turner had acquired. '96 was when they started pushing new original content.

I'd like to see a return of this thing, maybe have the viewers vote who win in a tournament and have special footage of the cartoons fighting like the same way of making animation for Space Ghost to Coast, the viewers can even win prizes depending on who they vote for

/co/ forget CN existed for re-run of Lonney Toons and Droopy shorts

>On February 18, 1992, Turner Broadcasting System announced its plans to launch the Cartoon Network as an outlet for Turner's considerable library of animation.[6] On October 1, 1992, Cartoon Network played "The Star Spangled Banner" (which was a tradition whenever a new Turner-owned network launched) and a video of a person placing a dynamite in a field and then blowing the dynamite up, the channel's launch then occurred on that day and was hosted by the MGM cartoon character Droopy in a special event called Droopy's Guide to the Cartoon Network, during which the first cartoon on the network, The Great Piggy Bank Robbery, was shown.[7][8][9][10] Initial programming on the channel consisted exclusively of reruns of classic Warner Bros. cartoons (the pre-1948 Looney Tunes and Merrie Melodies), the 1933–1957 Popeye cartoons, MGM cartoons, and Hanna-Barbera cartoons.[6] At first, cable providers in New York City, Philadelphia, Washington D.C., and Detroit carried the channel.[9] By the time the network launched, Cartoon Network had an 8,500-hour cartoon library.[11] From its launch until 1995, the network's announcers said the network's name with the word "The" added before "Cartoon Network", thus calling the network "The Cartoon Network". By the time that the network debuted, Cartoon Network also operated a programming block (containing its cartoons) that aired on TNT, entitled "Cartoon Network on TNT".

So basically, it started off like Boomerang.
And what's happening to Boomerang now is what happened to Cartoon Network in the past.
Channel with Hannah Barbara, Looney Tunes, and golden age Cartoon Network when?
>>
>>90413731
When it was mostly Hanna-Barbera cartoons and the other half of TNT.
>>
>>90413731
First started watching it around 97. Definitely remember the april fools prank and the early days of toonami. My very earliest memory was watching a Speed Racer Super Chunk.

Visited my Dad alternate weekends. Our house only had Nickelodeon so I was always excited to catch Cartoon Cartoon Fridays at his place.

We would watch Ed Edd n' Eddy together and when he went to bed, I'd stay up to watch Dragon Ball Z. 1999-2004 was just such a perfect time.

>>90413731
Those looney tunes marathons where during commercials they had this parody of the super bowl going on to determine who the best character is.

This is why I watch Disney XD.
Sure they air live action quite a bit but at least they marathon their original programming. Aside from Wander they treat their shows pretty well. CN needs to stop airing daily marathons of Teen Titans Go. It's excessive and it gets super annoying. Justice League Action is getting shit treatment despite the fact that the show was made to get the Teen Titans Go audience.
>>
>>90413511

They'll celebrate with a marathon of Teen Titans Go! and maybe burn off a few more episodes of PPGG.
