It's alright. It reads like an average superhero comic, so if you're into that sort of thing you might like it.

Personally, I'm not a fan. The lore is pretty stupid since it tries to have drama while having a sort of "tongue in cheek" tone about it but it really fails. Same with the animations. Alive is probably the most unintentionally hilarious trailer for any game I've seen. Credit where credit is due, the Bastion animation was 10/10 though.

Overwatch has problem of the characters being a random mess of whatever they can think off with no consistency. McCree is a good example of what I mean when I posted >>90392277. The entire game is meant to be a slick sci-fi/ Apple age setting. Having a cowboy in such a setting is already a large juxtaposition, and making him into a robot cowboy with a "BAMF" belt buckle makes an already silly and unfitting character downright dumb looking. It's not just McCree either. Tobjorn, Reinhardt and even Mei who is practically my waifu are just plain dumb in the context of the setting and "lore".

Character's like Bastion and Orisa are my favorite design wise because they're the ones that seem to have the most consistency to anything. Zenyatta and Genji are also good.

Not all of it. Hell not even half of the setting is meant to be that way. Australia, Russia, Africa and even Mexico's tech desing has a clear focus to make each of team even a little bit different. The apple look that you meant? That's mostly from an evil corporation in lore. Meanwhile, Russia has that kinda bulky look to it, Africa has a lot of green and yellow in their paint and a bulky kinda tribal desing to it, Mexico looks kinda old and made out of parts (look at Sombra's weapon for example, the damn thing has a wifi antena in it) and Australia's literally Mad Max.

Even things that have come out of that apple corporation don't look that much like it, Lucio's gun's supposed to be from it.

The tech's gonna be different depending of where it was made. I like that.

Thing is though while you are right that only a bit less then half of the maps are actually slick futuristic, about all of the writing and lore is essentially centered around said evil corporation. Almost all the animations and comics talk about the Omnic Crisis and how that shit fucked up the whole world. And even with the less futuristic maps a lot of the characters still look incredibly dumb looking.

Maybe I'm too conservative with my narratives and art design but I believe they should picked one style and genre and focus and perfect on that rather then just throwing stuff at the wall and see what sticks.
