Just like how they mindlessly write the episodes and the voice actors mindlessly voice their lines and send them in, viewers mindlessly tune in. That's just the way it is.

It makes enough money to continue to still exist. It's a zombie at this point.

I wonder if the show will end when the voice cast kick the bucket, or if they're going to just hire soundalikes to perpetuate the yellow machine.

The newer seasons don't even have half the quality of Season 2-8, but the majority of the audience don't care about that, they just want to watch more Simpsons doing silly commentaries even if all they do is pick low-hanging fruit.

It's also because The Simpsons is incredibly profitable for Fox and their corporate partners like Universal Studios, they'll keep episodes pumping and pumping to sell more merchandise and have people visit amusement park attractions like the one in Florida.

Gotta milk a cashcow for all its worth in a capitalistic society, and thanks to Fox's luck and the common American audience's braindead tastes, this cashcow will still be alive for years to come.

My brother still watches every episode. I'll put one on once in a while. They're always bad.
There was a gay one about the family going some place, it's winter, and Lisa finds a group of witches or wiccans or something stupid.
it's incredible, they've got twice as many bad seasons as good ones.

It's just weird that people have low standards. Nobody wants to admit that they like the current simpsons, but they still have a million views per airing.

They have not had a good joke since season 10, and I'm being pretty liberal here. Personally, nothing past season 8 is worth watching. They only exist now for jokes, and they're all awful.

Less people are watching TV overall every year anyway, so long-running shows experiencing ratings drops don't look as dramatic.

A cartoon used to be an animated thing that made you laugh. The Simpsons has become some project where the only jokes they can make are about celebrities and pop culture, while inviting those same celebrities on...but a year after the fact.
It's not enough that they're not funny, it's that they're a year behind and not funny.

I think it's interesting if we have to sit down, usually indoors to watch these things. 2bh I watch simpsoms on FX a lot. I can't really tell that much of a difference between episodes from the 1990s and episodes from now. I think it's because I don't have nostalgia for it because I only began watching it regularly in 2014 after the 2 week marathon and because I enjoy it more as a chronicle of change in America- watching episodes from 2015 or watching episodes from the year I was born present a fascinating contrast in culture.
