Anyone else feel like the Lego Batman "Ultra Villains" just kind of served to remind us that WB has only a handful of successful franchises? They were just all so distant from each other and felt so out of place.

I don't even know what the Godzilla-looking thing was supposed to be.

It's the Krakken.

Felt random. Not sure why they did it.

That doesn't answer anything, autismo.

Referencing the Superman movies felt like a mistake outside of hating Superman jokes

It relies on the viewer having seen them and based on those reviews, I never bothered

I did see the first Lego movie, and also felt they should have bothered to explain the Master Builder stuff in this one. I didn't even remember what it was until the second time he shouted it, and it's a total wash for people who didn't see it and don't understand what that's referencing or how Batman makes shit so fast and no one else does.

- because they have the licenses from dimensions
- to advertise dimensions

I thought it was hilarious. It's a LEGO movie, you could just imagine a kid playing out that scenario.
>The Joker is back! And he brought Voldemort! Can Batman stop them??

>Well, kids can be cruel

How did they get away with thissss

lol @ (you)
>>

It was an effective way to raise the stakes. Plus it evokes kids mixing up franchises all the time with their toys.
>>
The villains doing yoga at Arkham Asylum was fucking hilarious.
>>
>>90302409
Most people didn't seem to catch that.

Hell, I didn't realize until towards the end of the film.

I'm right there with you OP. With the exception of maybe evil magic guy, those other villains were basically scrubs.

I'm pretty sure Bane could kill King Kong, as long as he's allowed to go rob a gun store/military depot/police armory.

>>90302409
In what movie does the Kraken have atomic breath?
>>
>>90302301
Yeah it really showed just how pathetic WB really is

Honestly I wouldn't be surprised if AT&T just shuts them down
>>
>>90306347
In Godzilla
>>
>>90302301
I'm just sad that they didn't use actual established Lego baddies. Ogel and Makuta when?
>>
>>90306347
In Lego Batman.
>>
>>90302301
That's was the point, to have a mush mash of different unrelated lego sets all in one story, like when you were a kid and you had lego Spider-Man fly a space helicopter into your medieval castle set and shoot missiles at pirate skeletons.

Bionicle is dead. Again. No use spending time advertising lines they're not going to be selling anymore
>>
>>90307452
It takes place in the same place as the Lego. The ground splitting is the table splitting apart
>>
>>90307720

Yep. The Lego Movie overtly shows that these lego settings all take place in someone's playset, and they kept it up in this movie despite not showing any live action.

>just kind of served to remind us that WB has only a handful of successful franchises?

How was that "only a handful" compared to any movie studio?
>>
>>90310942

also Harry Potter and LOTR alone are like 2 of the most successful franchises of all time
>>
>>90302301
Does WB have rights to the Daleks?

Lego does, obviously a deal with WB was worked out for the movie.

No that's why they don't name them

The Richard Donner Superman references were for the older audience members, and it is the most recognizable adaptation of that character. Christopher Reeves is Still the one true Superman to many people.
