Last time I was really blown away it was a part of Bendis' run on Daredevil - that arc with the kid and frogman I think it was? I think hitting the Ring cycle is a pretty interesting thing vs. the tyranny of Odin. In the first place the role of Odin as a chooser of the slain is oppressive (Norse myths in general have some real fatalism to them, so a lot of them are oppressive). But specifically in the Ring stuff, look at what happens like with Siegmund and Sieglinde and Hunding. Odin so casually abuses the lives of these mortals in a way that is really born out of his own selfishness and desire. And although they can't stand against him directly ultimately the gods *are* destroyed.
