Remember he lost his job because he was bragging to Hank about new military material, which Hank told the guys about and Bill blabbed to his army superiors. Hank told him to take care of business and Kahn gets a job in Houston, 3 hours away, which Minh refuses to move to because people begrudgingly accept them in Arlen.

Kahn later did lament to Buckley's angel that he was depressed about it though.
