They basically looked at the difference between the Nolan movies and the old campy ones, and think that just doubling up on that will make it better. More dark, more grit, more armor, etc etc.

Even though its shown that Para's are thinking, feeling sapient beings when they get away from Darkseid, like the one Aquaman befriended that sacrificed himself for Arthur, or the one that was a member of the Suicide Squad.
There's little difference in murdering them to murdering any other soldier the heroes face (maybe its worse, since unlike regular soldiers which join up of their own will these are basically slaves that are forced into the role), which makes the general obsession with "No Kill" policies for the comicbooks versions nonsensical and hypocritical.

Because taste in Comic Book designs have changed, like everything in the 90s needing to big and extreme, the current go to now is tactical and cool. With that in mind spandex/cloth have been replaced with leather more black or duller colour schemes.

Maybe in the future in might swing back or something new will come along but right now we are in the tacticool era.

If I ever designed a Batmobile, it would basically look like the shell of an unassuming drab large SUV on top some kind of custom-built lightly-armored sporty chassis. You could have the shell be discarded when damaged or to allow the use of gizmos, but it would make more sense to me if Batman at least left the Batcave every night with the car disguised.
