yes and it was treated as a special occasion, and none of the characters went through any meaningful development and all acted like retarded memes because none of them actually have a point in the show at the moment and they all just do pointless retarded shit all day. episodes outside of steven's pov would work better to develop characters when they are going through important things away from steven, like Malachite, or Jasper after SWI, or Lapis and Peridot after Barn Mates. Just in general it would be nice to see Gems and other characters develop without having to do it all by interacting with Steven or by telling Steven how they did so while he was away.
They do it alright with the Rose flashback episodes.

How does the Big Donut situation work? Are they like a franchise, like Dunkin Donuts? If Lars and Sadie are the only two employees, how are they there literally ALL day. Do they not give them lives? Do they alternate days off? Why are they both there at the same time so often?

Not to mention Steven Universe likes to put a tint on everyone and everything in specific scenes. Take a look at The Return. Everyone remembers, every person and setting had a green tint for nearly the whole episode to reflect the green ship.

Same business in Ocean Gem. When they were at the pillar, EVERYONE's color was seemingly given a blue tint to it, to reflect the Water Pillar. It's a nice effect really, the whole tint.

Fun Fact: CN actually fucked up that episodes first airing BECAUSE of the tint. They thought the tint was an error, and colour-corrected it to remove the tint. This made Lapis' face in the tower not appear when she spoke to Steven. The error was fixed in later airings.
