This could even be a small comic that almost doesn't break canon:

I remember cracking up at GREAT FLAMING EYEBROWS as a kid. Upon rewatching recently, I still laughed as hard even knowing it was coming.

Samurai Jack's humor was top tier a lot of the time. They knew not to go overboard with it. You got little snippets in normal episodes every now and then, with silly episodes interspersed.

They fucked up in several aspects when making the show:

1. Making Aku lord of the world:
It's absolutely ridiculous to think that the person in charge of all of the world's resources can't kill a single guy.

2. Having Jack repeatedly face ridiculous 1 to 10,000 odds and win:
Not only does that completely kill the suspense, but it also is creatively bankrupt and goes into self-parody territory.

3. Having both ridiculous camp enemies and serious plausible enemies who were supposed to be perceived as equally menacing by the viewer:
They should have picked one direction. Or at least used different tones. In one episode jack is fighting some ancient dark menace and in another robo-gator hillbillies. At least they should have clearly shown that one of them is played for laughs and entertainment and the other for suspense. Jack can't look as cool killing powerful demons and slicing up literal joke characters. The show jumped between edgy shounen manga-tier and McGyver/A-team-tier plots with absolutely no change in tone.
