Do you guys think fusion gems can exist outside of fusion? Like, could they exists as their own entity.

I know the question may look stupid, but I'm serious. If it weren't for fusion, it seems there are many gems that their race would never ever know about.

If Homeworld is so restrictive about crossgem fusion, would that mean they would have NEVER seen an Opal before? A Malachite? Would they even have KNOWLEDGE of such a gem?

Alright /sug/ilites, I'm making some calls on Steven's fusions with the OGs:

All of Steven's fusions will be based on somewhat negative aspects of his relationships with the Gems.

>Smoky Quartz
Steven fused with Amethyst over their shared feelings of inadequacy, both feeling like there's something wrong with them on some level (I.E. Amethyst's overcooked nature and Steven being a hybrid). This is exemplified physically in Smoky via her asymmetrical limbs, which is viewed as a sort of defect on aesthetic and genetic levels, as opposed to the other multi-limbed fusions, whose multiple limbs can be viewed as more natural based on the levels mentioned above. Intentional or not, Smoky's "obesity" can also fuel this fire, as obesity a sign of someone who doesn't take care of themselves, and is strongly psychologically correlated with low self-esteem.

It wasn't a fluke that we only saw Rose fuse with Pearl. Both Steven and Pearl will be expecting THAT fusion when the time comes, and that's why they won't be able to do it. Pearl needs to accept that that part of her life is over forever and Steven needs to accept that he can't be everything he wants to be for everyone. They both need to accept that they aren't who they want to be, and that's okay. Rainbow, thusly, will revolve thematically around the idea that she's not who she wants to be.

Aesthetically I like the drawing where Rainbow has three eyes, but one is fused and the other two are on top of each other because the two eyes on top of each other remind me of an eye with a bag underneath it, a sign of someone who is severely stressed. That stress also plays into who Steven and Pearl are individually, as Pearl is constantly stressed about Steven's welfare and the fact that Rose is gone, but Steven's aware of this and that constant feeling of disappointing someone stresses him out too. With their singing and dancing capabilities, I predict Rainbow might be something of a diva on the surface.

Side tangent, I also expect Rainbow to be a walking light show, ala an altered version of Pearl's Hologram projections. No good reasoning behind this one, I just think it sounds cool.

Since the Steven-Garnet Fusion is 100% Spitball, I'm making a lot of assumptions here, so bare with me.

1.) Given that the first two end with Quartz, it would be thematically appropriate for the Steven-Garnet fusion to do so as well.

2.)Everyone expects a hell of a lot out of Steven and Garnet, but at the end of the day Steven's just a kid and Garnet's just two lesbians in an overcoat. They both just want to chill but they both have to take charge because things will get bad if they don't. Their bond will be something along those lines - this responsibility they've forced on themselves for the greater good, and how it bothers them.

3.) My research shows many traits in Mystic Quartz that would be found in both Garnet and Steven:
- heightens feelings/energy
- protects against harmful atmospheres
- stabilizes and balances
- clears minds to facilitate higher concentration/consciousness (ala Mindful Education)

Aesthetically, Mystic will appear stoic and have no apparent flaws, and will, obviously, take on the appearance of mystical people (sage, nun, priestess - I'm feeling an oriental vibe). However, her head will turn 180 degrees and reveal a second, significantly more expressive face. I also like the idea of another mouth inside of her own mouth that converses about her concerns with her first mouth.
