DD season 1 was the only season I liked all the way through, but JJ got really weak with its plot, DD Season 2 was half a Punisher advertisement and half Hand teasing, and Luke Cage fucks up with Diamondback. Just because we have criticisms doesn't mean we hate it cause it's popular.

Honestly, I'm a sucker for good fight choreography and that's probably the only reason I'll try to watch this entire season. Not sure what to make of it from the trailers although I'm not too wild about it, but we'll see. I have yet finish Jessica Jones and haven't even started Luke Cage.

I think Daredevil Season 2 was flat out bad. Outside the first four episodes, the Punisher plot and Hand plot never really merge. It feels like two completely separate stories, and half of it only exists to get people excited about the Punisher, while the other half is keeping the Hand so tediously vague that we're supposed to be shocked that Elektra is a Black Sky when we don't even know what a Black Sky is. DD S1 I thought did it best. Kingpin and his croonies, DD works his way up through the goons to get to Kingpin. JJ, though I admit the plot was tediously focused on Kilgrave the whole time, at least had direction. I felt that DD Season 2 had no direction at all and it was just them throwing Daredevil plot ideas together for a season without fully committing. Elektra's death was completely wasted on that season.

I recently read the original run and it sounds like you're the one who doesn't know the character. In the very, very beginning Danny seems "brooding" suppresses his emotions because he was full revengemode and in the "living weapon" mindset, though that's dropped shortly after Harold Meachum is killed. After that point it's just him dealing with being in an unfamiliar society, but never in such a way that made him seem like such a downer. He was upset for a while when Coleen got kidnapped but it wasn't done in any dark and dramatic way. He also grows into his more upbeat personality relatively quickly, and by the time he joins up with Luke he's a total puppy dog. Definitely not "dark and brooding."
