If Marvel can't make Iron Man an A-Lister when their movies are at their most successful, what are they going to do when the movies fail?
>>
>>89659504
change tony for a token marie sue...o waith they already do that
>>
>>89659504
As if comics have any bearing on being an A-lister or not anymore.
>>
>>89660063
This, they never mattered, he isn't an a lister, but who cares?
Booster is a c lister and is still better than any Mcu character, beta Ray Bill is the most heroic marvel character and he isnt an S lister like Spiderman.
>>
>>89659504
Riri Willians will be their A-Lister
>>
>>89660968
im more happy with bill beaing a c lister otherwise he coud fall in the hands of bendis
>>
>>89659504
Dude Iron Man is one of the most popular Marvel heroes right now. How is he not an A-Lister?
>>
>>89661220

Why are yopu characterfags so butthurt?

His popularityy is not the same as lasting impact.
>>
>>89661220

>>
>>89661509

3 movies in and normies can name a single iron man villian.

For this i will make a difference between normies and casuals:

Normies are the equivalent of people that play angry birds, they dont give a fuck, they like stuff but they are not fans.

Casuals are "fake" nerds, the Call of Duty/uncharted fans, the guys that read wikipedia and believe they know shit about comics, the SJW, big bang theory fans etc

And the TARGET audience is the people that actually read comics.

Iconic: Iconic to western culture, they are so massive they dont belong to ANY group, everyone knows about them regardless of age, country and if they like the characters. Batman and Superman are the only ones that are in that category, they share it with mickey mouse. Words like "kryptonite" have a meaning, endless parodies, references in older and current media, regardless of if they had a movie.

S-tier: The most popular characters in the world, Darth Vader, or in this case SPIDERMAN. Huge lasting popularity, all normies know who they are, but only people in the right age group can name a few things about them (knowing they are marvel or star wars, meaby an enemy etc). Huge impact in pop culture, but not culture overall, usually any reference will be either small or depend on a new "movie".

A lister:

Every Casual can name one or 3 pieces of media where they came from, Normies know they exist, but don't know shit about them, they can be really popular for a small timeframe, but they will be a memory in pop culture and not something really relevant:

Hulk, Joker, Wonder Woman belong here, people is familair with them, and they are pretty massive in for the right target audience.

B Lister: At least there's something in the mass emdia about them, Normies and casuals barely care about them, no one knows who their enemies are even if they are a big deal in universe:

Iron Man and captain america go here. Even after 3 movies, normies don't know anything about them
>>
>>89661898
It's embarrassing you took so much thought and time to type this out and yet it's wrong.
>>
>>89661898
im not reading all that pasta anon
>>
>>89661898
>3 movies in and normies can name a single iron man villian.

You mean "can't," right?

To be fair, part of that is that Marvel doesn't know how to make good villains. Everybody knows the core Batman villains from cultural osmosis from Batman '66, and even my parents know guys like Hugo Strange from Gotham.

Marvel never had any of that.
>>
>>89661898
Continue.

B listers have some relevant stories that Casuals may like and know pretty well, they are fairly liked among fans too. Normies may know one or 2 gimmicks about them like the Shield of cap, Thor's hamme, the umbrella of the penguin or Green Lantern's ring.

C Listers:

No big importance in universe either, casuals and normies don't care if there's no a movie about them, normies don't even know they exist. Booster gold, Sandman, Ms Marvel, Moon girl. etc

D Lister:

The original red tornado, Riri in 2 years, any of thor's replacements, most marvel villians that didnt start in xmen or Fantastic four.
The best and the worst characters are C-listers, b listers always suffer from shitty gimmicks to try to push them to the A lister tier.
>>
>>89661970
He isn't wrong, although I think the S tier should be split between iconic and A-tier.

Darth Vader and his surrounding universe js iconic on the level Batman and Superman are, while Spiderman is a character people know about but his supporting cast is all completely unknown.
>>
>>89662141
People know MJ as his girlfriend and Aunt May as his guardian. Spidey is a fucking S-Lister though dude you're fucking delusional if you don't think so.

Spider-Man has one of the most iconic rogues galleries of all time...
>>
>>89662238
No, he doesn't. Venom is the only one who had any kind of IRL impact.
>>
>>89661898

It makes some sense i guess
>>
>>89659504

Have Peter retire as Spider-Man and have him become Stark's successor as the Iron Spider. He'll have his own suit of course
>>
>>89659504
>If Marvel can't make Iron Man an A-Lister when their movies are at their most successful, what are they going to do when the movies fail?

Spider-Man books and Deadpool books

I think you'd probably have difficulty finding regular comic readers who know anything about Morbius, Hydro-Man, Will O' Wisp, Scarecrow, Vermin, Tarantula, or Molten Man.
>>
>>89662929
>Morbius

28+ probably will remember him
>>
>>89662929
>>89662989

Morbius was always a favourite of mine and I was genuinely pleased with his ongoing a couple years ago.
