It's completely average. You should be upset that such a strong setup with great potential was handled in a mediocre way, but the book itself is fine.

Seriously, if it WASN'T set in Manhattan, and DIDN'T treat Devil like a dog, and embraced its natural conclusion as a tragedy rather than a comedy (and the editors didn't fuck any sense of consistency outside the main book) it could have been a fabulous all-ages book about coping with situations you can't change.

Instead it's just okay. Not good or bad. Just standard.
