Logan Is Not Set In The X-Men Universe, Says Hugh Jackman
>When you see the full movie you’ll understand,” the actor explained. “Not only is it different in terms of timeline and tone, it’s a slightly different universe. It’s actually a different paradigm and that will become clear.

So... like any other X-Men movie?
>>
>>89309946
I don't mind this. It's obvious that ALL the X-Men (sans Logan and Xavier) are dead. So having it be an alternate tineline story is okay since it means we can have another movie with Cyclops or Nightcrawler (hopefully they won't fuck it up this time).

Plus it worked for Deadpool. Deadpool is pretty self-contaied and can take place in any continuity.
>>
>>89309946
since fox always ignores the movies before it, isnt this just business as usual?

Will they reference what happened to the other X-men at the school? They've seemingly written-out the presence of most other mutants anyway, right there is a pretty good way to do it.
Disappointed they've dropped the apocalyptic setting, but seeing as basically every other character in Old Man Logan is MCU territory its not surprising - they'd have to come up with a lot of replacements for Hulk and so on.
>>
They just keep accepting that their movies and universe have been shit, this gives me some hope because Fox hasn't made a good mutie movie since X2
>>
>>89309946
Man, I love that X-Men movie continuity is so messed up. Keeping it true to the comics.
>>
>>89311217
Its really not that messed up at all desu. There are two timelines: Original X-Men trilogy+Origins, which leads to the evil DoFP future with Sentinels. Then, there's the First Class/DofP/Apocalypse/Deadpool timeline, which is the timeline that leads to the immediately "good" future at the end of DofP, which apparently then leads on into Logan.

This meme that it's confusing is totally retarded.
>>
At this point I don't even give a shit about timelines, I just want a good wolverine movie.
>>
>>89309946
Its not that hard of a concept. /co/ has been saying it from the beginning. She will get aged up and sent to the current Xmen timeline to replace Logan as Wolverine on the team.
>>
>>89310966
>this gives me some hope because Fox hasn't made a good mutie movie since X2
Days of future past was at least on par with x2, and deadpool was certainly better.
>>
>>89310693
Ooh I bet Picard is suppressing Logan's memory and when he dies at the low point of the film, Logan will suddenly remember everything he did.
Who would have fooled him though, hmmm.
>>
>>89311573
I don't really count Deadpool as an X-men film, it was a Deadpool movie with two X-men characters. And Dofp had two worth while scenes, the rest of the film is painfully forgettable
>>
>>89311573
desu, x2 (outside of the wolvie beserk scene and anything with brian cox) doesnt hold up well. and dofp is a good film, but a terrible x-men movie. they still havent made a good x-men movie, just one with those characters names and powers in it.

also deadpool wont hold up in the future, its very of the time with its family guy-tear jokes
>>
>>89309946
At this point, Fox should just give the X-Men Film rights back to Marvel. It would be the polite and right thing to do (the X-Men belong back home anyway).
>>
>>89309946
Please just give the rights back
>>
>>89311692
Slapstick doesn't ever age.
>>
>>89311761
Go the fuck away MCUfag. No Marvel reader wants that. Current Marvel movies and comics are by and large trash.
>>
>>89311793
but still better than Xmen movies. Which says a lot about them.
>>
>>89311692
>x2 (outside of the wolvie beserk scene and anything with brian cox) doesnt hold up well
This.

I can remember when it was being considered the pinnacle of the comicbook movies.
>>

LOGAN TAKES PLACE IN MCU
IN MARVEL WE TRUST
>>
>>89311910
No, DoFP is better than about any MCU movie.
>>
>>89311910
No. The Xmen movies aside from X3 have been better than any MCU movie except Iron Man 1.

Get some taste. A movie needs a beginning middle and end. Not just a beginning and ends in the middle of the plot.
>>
>>89311761
>>89311783
No you faggots. I don't want one single company having monopoly over everything, competition is good.
>>

Winter Soldier was at least on the level of DoFP.
Maybe Civil War.
>>
>>89311793
>being this much of a Foxshill
The MCU is literally the greatest. Eveyone loves it (well, everyone with taste). And the MCU has literally never had a bad movie. Just look at Rotten Tomatoes.
FoX-Men has had several bad movies on rotten tomatoes.

Therefore, the X-Men would be better off in the MCU
>>
>>89312017
>bait 2/10
>>
>>89311984
But anon that's why the DCEU exists.
>>
>>89311974
X-Men Apocalypse ha a rotten score and is lower than Man of Steel and The Amazing Spider-Man 2.

The MCU all have fresh movies on RT.

Therefore, the MCU has never had a bad movie. While Fox has had several.
>>
>>89311984
The MCU had no "competition" until 2016 and they were just as great then as they are now
>>
movie ends with everyone dying and logan sending x-23 to the past/main timeline

screenshot this
>>
>>89311984
But since FoX-Men and the MCU movies have ties to Marvel Comics, aren't they just competing against themselves.
>>
>>89311984
Even if the company makes good quality movies ad would do the frachise right?

Just sayin.
>>
>>89311497

Very little of the money they make actually goes to Marvel Comics, most of it goes to the movie studios who don't give a shit what company created the characters.
>>89312082
By not being apart of MCU there's a chance they can take risks that Disney might not allow, like with Deadpool and Logan being rated R. MCU's most risky stuff is with Netflix but they don't even acknowledge that as part of the universe.
>>
To end all the faggotry in this thread:
The X-Men movies have highs and lows.
The MCU movies have highs and lows.
You can enjoy both.
>>
>>89312122
i actually saw it, not imagining things.

>>89312158
Yeah that movie made a bunch of people in my theater physically ill. They had to put a warning on the door that if you are disoriented easily please be advised.

Disapointed. At least there isn't more Magneto wanking.
Also
>Wolverine literally picks up an X-Men comic.

I wish it did happen like that, Logan. That comic looked more fun then all the FoX-Men films.

I also thought DoFP was good.

nope

she murders Xavier at the top of the third act, after he's given this big speech to Logan about doing something that matters and raising the girl to be something other than a weapon like Sinister wanted/paramilitary like Xavier did with the X-Men, Logan kills the remaining Reavers and then fucks off with Laura to be her daddy

no sequel, no comebacks, no age-ups (which is retarded, by the way, because why even bother going to the expense of hiring a child in a leading role when they can only work a 20-hour week maximum and they're in nearly every scene and a whole lot of CGI crap, then replace her with an adult actress on another movie with a convoluted as shit time-travel device that has nothing to do with the story Logan is telling, if you could just hire an 18-year-old and pretend she's 15 like they do with LITERALLY EVERY OTHER X-MEN MOVIE), no nothing

it's just a movie with an end that was supposed to cap off the series, but i guess Jackman's too greedy to know when to quit

hope he tears a rotator cuff on Deadpool 2 and never walks right again

And now that Fox got rid of the director, the sequel will be terrible.

Marvel is more in competition with itself then it is with DC. DC movies being successful isn't going to have any impact on Marvel, despite what fanboys say they'll watch both companies movies. But Fox and Disney having to split up the characters is the biggest problem for them.

The same could be said about you, Foxshill. Seriously, do you honestly believe that X-Men Apocalypse, X-Men the Last Stand, Wolverine Origins, and all the Fox Fantastic Four movies are actually good? Call me when James Gunn or Joss Whedon makes an X-Men movie.

>>
>>89312797
>But Fox and Disney having to split up the characters is the biggest problem for them.
I believe the problem is with Disney and the MCU is that every movie that introduces a new character is a "risky bet" that survives thanks the MS and MCU brand alone. Guardians got over as fuck, but Strange and Ant-Man were just a monthly fad.

Now, if they had actual known heroes like the X-Men, Galactus and FF they could shit even more money without having to rely on the MCU brand alone. It's a safer bet.

If Fox had the rest of the Marvel characters they would drive the entire franchise to the ground and the super hero bubble would burst for good.

not either of the quotes, but i dont think he's a bad writer, aside from every character being an extention of how he sees himself, but he isnt that impressive of a director. his style is flat, the acting from new characters comes off bland because they haven't had better tips from better directors, and he also seems like he doesn't want to do it on such a big scale. i wish he was just an idea man in the company, doing occasional punch up work on scripts.

I mean I could go on and on. There were multiple studios making comic book movies. One down now, sony is under disney. These films do compete. November has Thor 3 right near JL. Other movies ARE competition for them. Which one people spend money on. 2014 was one of the least competitive years because it was all so spaced out. It probably helped cap 2, DOFP TASM2 and GotG all do as well as they did. Sometimes its not though. When it comes to family budgets to see movies, they don't go see them all.
