Goodbye Dr. McNinja, you accomplished what so many of your webcomic compatriots failed at.
>>
>>89271246
But there's a perfectly sound explanation for that he said as much himself. He saw them on TV being threatened at gun point. He was even fine to leave Gordito with them. So what the fuck is the deal?
>>
>>89271236
Oh shit son...
>>
>>89271286
They betrayed him before that.
>>
So we never got to see his face?

I cant believe it's over. What a ride.
>>
>>89271236
which means that my messed up theory that the king of the radical lands before radical was dr. mcninja's counterpart and that all the named radical land characters were counterparts to characters we knew might be right.

i wonder if this means my theory that the radical lands was the future of dr. mcninja verse was true?
>>
>>89271314
Yes. When they threw him into the portal. After which he said something to the effect of "they probably had a good reason." And what does that matter anyway if he saw them being threatened at gunpoint?
>>
>>89271359
>And what does that matter anyway if he saw them being threatened at gunpoint?
Because they weren't being held at gunpoint when they betrayed him.

>After which he said something to the effect of "they probably had a good reason."
I don't remember anything like that. Regardless, it's good reason for him to get away from them. Keep in mind that his real name is still cursed.

It wasn't my favorite webcomic, and sometimes I thought it tried too hard to tick off all the "internet humor" boxes, but it ended with at least the same level of quality as it started, which is more than can be said for everyone else.

I don't quite understand why he can never trust his family again. I get why he tried to fake his death (it probably never occurred to him that Franz would know it wasn't him), but why'd he ditch the McNinjas forever?

I'm down to two that I still regularly check (I like Whomp! and Nedroid, but the former I only read when I see it on /co/, and the latter updates too infrequently that, again, I just read it when I see it on /co/).

The two that I still regularly check the updates on are... well, not actually any good and I'm only reading them out of habit because of how long I've been reading them. Dr. McNinja was the third of my three "still reading because after following it for well over a decade, it'd be crazy to stop now" but it's the only one of the three that was actually any good and that I still enjoyed. The other two being Menage a 3 and Penny Arcade.

At least I still have Heathcliff, which while not a webcomic, scratches a similar itch thanks to its daily updates, and a handful of korean manwha porn webtoons which I mostly read because they are a fucking goldmine for reaction images. Pic related.

Man, I haven't been this conflicted over an ending in a while. On one hand, it's a solid ending for a comic that's been running for this long and it wraps up most of the plot threads in a neat little bow. On the other hand, I'm a bit miffed that they never really addressed Sparklelord and King Radical's defeat was a bit anti-climatic.

I kinda get what anon means. I liked the ending, but I could tell leading up to this update that the ending was going to feel a little anti-climactic somehow. I can't put my finger on why it feels that way to me, so I don't hold it against the comic as an actual criticism or anything. Maybe it's something about the release pacing? I don't know.

Objectively, forcibly turning a dude into a vampire and then killing him by tossing a Pope at him is very rad. And the defeat of Frans Rayer was a good bit of karmic justice after his entire plan goes to shit. But, I don't know, it felt like it wasn't long enough? I suppose it didn't need to be any longer, everything got properly addressed.

Just feels weird to me.

I think it might be that Dr. McNinja just never seemed like the sort of comic that ought to have a real conclusion. It started off as episodic weirdness, and even when it got a real plot, that flavor remained. So a serious ending with serious finality will always seem a bit discordant with at least how it began.

I mean, it fits thematically with him constantly being downgraded in threat scale. From Dan's rival in ninja society, to that one badass ninja-killer, to a villain trying to mastermind Dr. McNinja's death by manipulating the ninja competency rule, to ultimately being just another henchman for a bigger bad. He's just been on a downward slope since his first appearance.

I'm pretty sure that's the intention, anon. Only Patrick could have a son as badass as Chuck.

Probably been reading for more than 10 years, now. It's bittersweet, but...I'm glad it happened. A good ending. A fufilling finish.

Yes. No abrupt ending. It came to an end naturally. Like a person who finally dies a peaceful death. No tears to be shed, just happiness.

Huh.

I kinda dropped from it, but I was there when it first started, when 4ch was first talking about it etc.

Kinda sad I was here longer than this comic was alive. Where did all that time go...

Who was Dame Dudeical then? There's only a handful of action women in this comic. She's either Mitzi, human Judy, Hortense, or Maria Funkhauser

I only ever read bits and pieces of this comic. Mostly from the ending chapter and that one about the clones.

What happened to his clone in the end?

This panel is like the perfect example of why Dr. McNinja worked so well for so long.

It was such an insane, absurd world, but everyone involved in the comic lived in that world all the time, so the strange and odd became the normal and mundane to them. Someone suggests the politician might be saved by a King of the Sea, and the guy next to him tells him bluntly, "No Kings of the Sea are friendly."

I worry that anyone reading it for the first time today would be turned off by the LOLSORANDUMB nature of the gags, but to me it always felt fucking hilarious. I was always at the right age, reading it at the right time, to get a chuckle.

Thank you and goodbye Dr Mcninja.
>>
>>89287608
The thing is that the things Dr. McNinja did were things that less talented people that came after him completely drove into the ground.
>>
>>89276357
I think the problem was that their deaths came at such a brisk pace and fairly close together. The lead up to the final battle with Radical was fairly long but the actual battle went by over the course of a few pages.
>>
>>89278629
>I'm pretty sure Doc always liked being a Doctor more then being a Ninja
But that was directly stated, multiple times.
>>
King Radical will always be one of my favorite comic book villains. Up to the point where he killed a child with Paul Bunyons Disorder, I was still hoping that he would be able to save the Radical Lands.

The only other thing I would have loved to see would be the villains all upset in purgatory. Or at least King Radical and Ron Wizard causing a ruckus in the restaurant and make it fun and less boring of a wait.
>>
>>89277994
Rice Boy for sure.

As I've been saying about that book for months, it's good DESPITE the concept, not because of it.
>>
>>89280439
Second the shit out of that. The appearance of the second ghost wizard in the granpa story is one of the hypest moments in the whole comic.

My one regret is how little he used them in the finale. I will forever wonder which spells they had.

Man. Dr. McNinja is one of my favorite comics period, let alone webcomics. Funny, cool, weirdly touching at times, and crazy in a well-thought-out way. Never jibed with people who dismissed it as lolrandumb because all the absurd elements that lazy writers would use as an ironic punchline followed the logic of the setting and had repercussions on the plot. I'm gonna miss it.

Dan and Mitzi were the best. I'm still pissed off that we never learned more about them, Mitzi in particular. I can honestly accept that a ninja family passes things down and that's all there is to it. But as you said, Mitzi married in. What is her story? What was she doing before she met Dan? How did she meet Dan? How did she come to learn how to raise proper ninja children?

She's the most fascinating character for me, in the sense that we know nothing about her.
>>
>>89297814
>How did she come to learn how to raise proper ninja children?

I'm pretty sure this addressed in one of the arcs (possibly the one where she gets the mummy's curse) and that the answer was "she didn't and improvised like hell".
>>
>>89297873
Yeah, I know the pages you're referring to. Still.
>>
But the midget is still alive
I definitely think that last bit with Rayner and the Negazone resolved way too quickly, and the whole curse was kind of ignored considering how much buildup it had, and nothing was said of the Ghost Wizards

Relatively minor complaints compared to the run this comic had though, I think Hastings just tried to tie up too many strings for the amount of time he was willing to spend on a finale
>>
>>89271083
A little bummed that the last time we saw Martin, he was tied up.

>scramjet bullets
For when normal DU bullets aren't expensive enough.

With tech on that level it would be reasonable to assume there's also railguns in portable sizes, making gauss-scram a stupidly expensive and moot point.

Also, dammit it's annoying to keep track of where the extras like Guestravaganza and print-only stuff fits into the Omni and Night Powers.

It takes place all the way from the 20s up through the current day and near future.
There's a timeline, which means Clevinger can set it wherever and whenever he wants, which gives him a lot of flexibility in terms of setting.
>>
>>89311014
Tesla moved to America in the 1890s and lived there til the 1940s.

Some time between 1890 and 1930 I'd assume

>>89272290
Dr. McNinja, 8-Bit Theater, Bob and George, Nodwick, Girls with Slingshots.

That's all I can think of. Sure, there are other comics I used to read that've since ended (Queen of Wands, Shortpacked!, Dominic Deegan: Oracle for Hire) but I wouldn't really call them a run worth reading. Even Girls with Slingshots is a bit of a stretch there, and Bob and George probably only gets by on pure nostalgia. Maybe Kid Radd would fit better?
