So can we agree this is the worst Batman comic? Or is there actually something worse?
Cause I couldn't stand reading this.
It's actually great but you have to be in the right mindset for it's insanity.
That one where Batman goes on about how much he hates punk rock is pretty bad.
>>89262573
Killing Joke is soooooo much worse than this. Goddammit OP?
dk2 is like straight up MAD magazine shit and it fucking rules
>>89262638
I've heard about that one, haven't read it yet, but can't say I'm in a hurry.
>>89262617
>>89262649
This. It's one wild ride
>>89262638
I was just thinking about that. What was it called?
I fucking hated what it did with everyone not named Batman in it, and even Batman look deranged.
What about the infamously bad ones, like Widening Gyre?
>>89262677
Batman: It Ain't Me.
This is legitimately one of the best Batman stories. Nobody can write Batman as well as Frank Miller, and we get some fucking awesome moments with other characters, too. 9/11 kinda fucked it all up, but none of you kids would know anything about that.
Miller is the greatest writer/artist in American super-hero comics and I wish you'll cowards would show him respect.
>>89262573
>Or is there actually something worse?
Odyssey
>>89262796
Come on, man.
>>89262829
anon isn't far from the truth.....
>>89262841
Frank Miller wrote two, possibly three good stories with Batman. The rest all suck.
>>89262796
>Fucking awesome moments with other characters
Like the part where Superman and Wonder Woman cause tidal waves after having sex?
>>89262865
how many batman stories has he overall written
>>89263013
Four with a fifth still in progress
8 if you count Red Batman
>>89263080
DKR, DKSA, Y1, and Spawn crossover?
oh and Master Race kinda
>>89263111
ASBAR
Has there ever been any form of media that has had Batman encounter financial issues that actually hindered his crimefighting capabilities? I mean Wayne Tech isn't invinicible, right?
>>89263137
D'OH
>>89262573
Pic related is pretty horrendous but really entertaining by how insane it is
>>89263209
Odyssey is the greatest superhero comic of all time and any other opinion about it is wrong
>>89263209
batman: odyssey is a masterpiece, you philistine.
>>89263137
Besides how wonder woman and black canary are portrayed i unironically love all star batman and robin
>>89263325
ASBAR gets a lot better when you realize it's a parody
>>89263001
The part where Captain Marvel dies is pretty fucking strong and it's a great moment between WW and Marvel.
>>89262829
You can't name a better writer/artist on Batman, you can't name a single writer who influenced the overall perception and popularity of Batman more, you can't name a better American super-hero writer/artist at all. Face it.
>>89263361
how is it a parody? it's just balls to wall awesome.
>>89262677
Batman: Fortunate Son
>>89263415
It's a parody of the 90s edgelord anti-hero partially inspired by TDKR
>>89263361
I think it fits really well into franks universe the only problem is he never got to finish it
>>89262818
Look at this casual.
>>89263434
Not only does it parody that, but it also begins the process of explaining why Batman needs an Robin which is perfectly illustrated in The Dark Knight Returns. And it also sets up Dick in the Dark Knight-Verse as being a bit fucked up, and possibly that it's Batman's fault he so messed up by the time of Dark Knight Strikes Again.
>>89263434
Eeeeeeeh...there's maybe an aspect of that, but that's mostly wishful thinking. It reads a lot better and makes a lot more sense as a pretty sincere statement by Miller.
>>89263730
the most logical explanation I've heard is that the first few issues were more serious but when he saw the reception he leaned into it hard and made everything over the top satire
>>89263001
Tidal waves that kill innocent people.
>>89263763
>>89263730
>>89263434
Explain DKRII being just as bad and crazy then.
>>89263852
DK3 is good, you're just a fag
>>89262573
You better not read All Star Batman and Robin then
>>89263911
No, it isn't and that's mostly written by Azzarello.
>>89263852
it's not, it's good. And it has a better ending than TDKR
>>89263966
You're fucking delusional. DKRII ruined any hype people had for a continuation for DKR. It ruined DKR in retrospect.
All the intelligent writing, the character study, the nuance. Everything that made DKR good was absent from DKRII.
>>89263911
Oh wait you said DKSA, disregard
>>89264002
1. there shouldn't be a continuation of dkr and if you wanted one you deserve to have your hopes bashed along with your brains
2. ''i was sentimental, back when i was old'' is better than dkr's ''it's a good start'' whatever ending. both are good, the former is just superior.
>>89264301
No, it isn't. The ending of DKRII sucked, anon. 90% of the comic did. It has the worst characterizations across the board.
>>89264353
Disagree, sorry you can't comprehend next level art
>>89264459
That's okay. We agree to disagree.
>>89263918
All-Star is undeniably terrible but I had a great time reading it with how stupid it is. Also the art's pretty fantastic, so that's more than I can say for DKSA.
>>89262717
Just shot a vodka soda out of my mouth at a bar
>>89263373
>You can't name a better writer/artist on Batman, you can't name a single writer who influenced the overall perception and popularity of Batman more, you can't name a better American super-hero writer/artist at all. Face it.
>Who the fuck is Dennis oneil or neal adams
>>89264530
Denny O'Neil isn't an artist and despite Odyssey being the best superhero comic of all time, Neal Adams isn't that great a writer
>>89264595
but Denny changed batman from the ground up, Denny made him a gritty character again and the only reason TDKR even happened is because Denny asked Frank to write a batman story
>>89264530
lol
>>89264622
and no one asked Denny to write ever again so lol at you
>>89263415
>>89263434
i thought it was meant to be a parody of silver age comics done in the modern age.
>>89264672
He wrote a shitload of Batman after Miller, though
>>89263361
Crazy Batman is the best Batman
>>89264739
don't respond anon
>>89264739
a lot of garbage to go with his earlier pre-miller garbage which lead to them begging miller to drag batman out of the garbage heap denny wrote him into, which he did.
>>89265319
>Legends of the Dark Knight
>garbage
>>89265412
compared to TDKR yes
>>89265423
Multiple things can be good, anon, that's allowed
>>89262573
DK2 is batshit (heh) crazy, and not what i would call a good book by any means but theres a certain spark of Miller insanity in it that makes it at least a fun read even if its beyond ridiculous.
There are many more actually godawful Batman stories out there, just look at Kevin Smiths Bat stories, jfc. Some would say Adams Batman Odyssey is the worst but it has that same level of 'wtf is going on' crazy that dk2 has..
so no, I don't agree.
>>89263373
>You can't name a better writer/artist on Batman
