I'll be honest, I'm getting the impression that there's some deceptive editing going on with these trailers. I feel like they're playing up the grimdark vibe to conceal how campy the movie's actually going to end up being.

Kind of reminds me of how Pacific Rim was marketed, actually. They really pushed that ultra-serious "Transformers but with giant monsters" vibe hard in the early trailers, did not seem like it could possibly be good... Then when the actual movie came out, it turned out that it wasn't taking itself as seriously as the trailers implied, it actually sort of EMBRACED the ridiculousness of the concept.

Oh man that's maybe the one episode I remember. There was a monster who made everyone have nightmares. Skull and Bulk dreamt of being Power Rangers, they even did the morph animation and got a hilarious costume. Then they summoned the Megazord and played around with the joystick like retards, and the Megazord jumped chest forward into a building. It was hilarious, anyone has a clip of it?

I like how the girl just straight up says what happens instead of trying to make up an excuse. That's pretty cool. Maybe this movie won't be so bad. Most likely between 6 and 8 out of ten. Looks like it will at least have some good scenes and some good jokes. Though, some of the dialogue and interactions seem a bit generic.

It looks like another mindless, self-indulgent Michael Bay reboot full of all those cheeky little tongue-in-cheek references to how idiotic the original series is so that we're all well aware of the fact that this new movie grew up with US, cheap and predictable humour, unnecessary cursing and, of course, heaping piles of eye-bleeding CGI to reallly drive home the fact that this movie is going to be hideous to look at.

As if all of that wasn't enough, the costumes and the Megazord also look abysmal. It's like they tried to make them look too alien and, in the end, they just look like Bayformers who got shrunk in the washing machine.

I was never really hyped for this movie, but now I doubt I'm even going to give it an illegal download.

The plot already leaked, by the way.

The Power Rangers are intergalactic warriors that protect the Free Worlds from Lord Zedd. They harness their power from the Morphing Grid, an extradimensional field of energy accessible through the Zeo Crystal, which is hidden on Earth and protected by an unpenetrable force field.

Lord Zedd seduces the Green Ranger, Rita Repulsa, to join him. Together, they create Goldar, a monster capable of breaching the force field, and Rita leads him to Earth during the cretaceous period in order to steal the Zeo Crystal. They are confronted by the Power Ranger led by Zordon, the Red Ranger.

The Rangers sacrifice themselves to destroy Goldar, while Zordon sacrifices his physical form to trap Rita. He then becomes a disembodied presence aboard the Command Center, which is damaged in the battle and buried underground.

Years later, Angel's Grove has been built where the battle between the Rangers and Rita took place. Jason is a former football player whose prospective career was ruined by a knee injury. He's attending extension classes where he befriends four other misfits: Billy, Kimberly, Zack and Trini.

Billy is an introverted geek with OCD, Kimberly is an ex-cheerleader who has been disowned by her old friends, Trini is constantly on the move and struggles to make friends and Zack is the new star of the football team but is ashamed for his humble upbringing.

The five sneak into a quarry where the remains of the Command Center have been discovered and find the Power Coins, which afford them superhuman abilities. The construction workers later accidentally free Rita, who sets out to reassemble Goldar, whose molecular essence has been scattered in pieces of gold across the planet.

Upon learning of this, Zordon summons the teens back to the Command Center, which is operated by Alpha-5. He then recruits them to stop Rita before she reassembles Goldar, training them to harness their powers and summon the Dinozords.

Rita is defeated and the Green Power Coin is lost, while a depowered Rita is rescued by Lord Zedd's forces and brought before him so they can plan their revenge.
