Early in All-New X-Men, we see Mystique chatting with Lady Mastermind about her name. Now, Lady Mastermind could literally call herself whatever she wants. In-universe, the name she uses is obviously her choice which she could dispense with any time she likes. In light of that, TRY to make sense of this conversation:

Mystique: "Still Lady Mastermind?"

LM: "What's wrong with Lady Mastermind?"

Why do people even post things about Marvel comics anymore? Every single time I see a thread about Marvel its something terrible. Do any of you guys even like Marvel comics anymore? Because the only thing I can genuinely remember from the past few years that this board has agreed was good was Vision. Overall, no, I haven't enjoyed much from Marvel since the first Civil War (which was so trash it made me stop following the books). I admire that there are a few real creators left trying to keep the ship afloat, but overall it's been trash, characters seem hollow, and the universe doesn't feel real at all. Hell, I only go to a comic shop every few months, and last time I didn't buy a single Marvel book.

I have stopped caring as much about how progressive Marvel WANTS to be, except for the fact that it comes off so damn preachy. I know comics when I was a kid weren't THIS preachy all the time. I keep up with a few titles, like Gwenpool, just to enjoy them before Bendis realizes the character exists and ruins her (like he did with Squirrel Girl). I guess I came to this thread because I grew up on Iron Man, so seeing how shit the concept has gotten gives me a reason to be thankful for all the good stuff I read as a kid.

So we have a main character who was booted out of his own comic because he is no longer worthy to possess his powers because of reasons we have not learned after years of comics, an event he experienced in a comic that wasn't even his, and had his powers given to a woman who we don't even know why she is now worthy to hold said powers other than "has cancer and is brave about it," which covers a large amount of other people on Earth. This new Thor, in her Thor form, also has virtually the same characterization as regular Thor, which makes the change of characters feel quite pointless other than the fact that we now get pages where she can use the power of GIRL POWER!!! to teach misogynistic villains a lesson. And speaking of new powers, this new Thor is able to make the hammer do things that it has never been able to do before because she's just soooo super special and everyone loves her and whenever she isn't around everyone asks, "Where's Poochie?!"

I don't read much of her stuff, but I think if she was just a lone book, focusing on her being a cute local hero trying her best, it would be great. The larger connections to the Marvel Universe do nothing but drag her down. She really seems like she's there just to check a lot of boxes off at times. Everytime she is lined up with a bunch of other Inhumans I think "Do you really care about this Inhuman shit, Kamala?".

I could go on all day about how badly Carol was written during CW2. Not even just from a "I don't like her" perspective, because it's horribly inconsistent. She goes from merely being tired and at her limit in her own book (where she is actually working hard to do things by the book) to a complete cunt in the main book (where she just flies away if she's losing an argument). It's impossible to relate to a character that doesn't make any sense at all.

And just the fact that she doesn't REALLY seem to be broken up about Kamala is crazy, too. To her was Kamala just like any other underling? If Carol doesn't actually care about her (as I haven't seen a single thing about her being broken up about their parting) does that mean all the shit she says here is just a GUILT TRIP?
